Our approximately 150 employees support the association’s mission to build a community that advances the profession of physical therapy to improve the health of society.SummaryReporting to the Director, Legal Affairs/General Counsel, this position will be the lead support in the Legal Affairs Department for the Association. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in legal principles, procedures, and terminology. Implements strategies to support organizational priorities with focus on departmental contributions for Association. Prepares for approval compliance requirements and documents and seeks out opportunities for continuous quality improvement in department activities. Is an effective champion of the Association vision, mission, and brand.Essential FunctionsServe as a liaison to staff for general contracts information, ensuring smooth communication with employees and timely resolution to their queries.Serve as lead admin for APTA’s legal software.Provide guidance and training on APTA’s legal software to staff, as needed.Set up and maintain legal calendar for contracts – advising on renewals, updating, etc.Maintain agenda for legal team meetings.Maintain working knowledge of Association’s policy and procedures.Staff ExpectationsUpholds and fosters team values.Complies with all APTA policies and procedures.Performs other duties as assigned to foster the achievement of association priorities.QualificationsBachelor's degree preferred.3+ years’ experience in a legal support role, preferably in a nonprofit association.Paralegal certificate, a plus.Strong knowledge of legal principles, concepts, and legal research methodology relevant to document production in a legal context, or equivalent experience.Must have contracts experience.Working knowledge of legal software platforms, Cobblestone a plus.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suites.Project management skills a plus.Excellent communication and time management skills.Ability to foster positive and collaborative relationships with staff.Notary Public for State of Virginia a plus.Travel RequirementsNoneHow To ApplyPlease send resume and cover letter, including salary requirements, when applying.Principals only; no agencies; no phone calls, please.
