The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is seeking an ADA Compliance Officer with strong expertise, communication, and strategic planning skills to lead UMGC's efforts to ensure compliance with federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act policies, and federal and state statutory and regulatory disability and accessibility-related requirements. The ADA Compliance Officer will further maintain oversight of accessibility and compliance issues for staff, faculty, and students.Primary Duties
Develops, implements, and evaluates policies, procedures, and standards for the effective administration of a comprehensive accessibility compliance program for individuals with disabilities across all relevant areas, and coordinates, and monitors compliance activities and trainings.Develop and implement a strategic plan for UMGC's adherence to ADA, and disability and accessibility-related policies and procedures.Oversee the development and implementation of policies, related programs, services, and education/or outreach for students, staff, and faculty.Work with Director of Accessibility Services to ensure compliance with all federal guidelines and ADA requirements.Keep abreast of current state and federal laws, regulations, and trends related to ADA, and WCAG.Required Experience
3 to 5 years of experience in a related field and able to work from a deep knowledge of theory and practice of equity and inclusion as they apply within higher education.Experience with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines related to accessibility.Experience in communicating effectively, verbally and written, with the ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations diplomatically.Demonstrated skill in exercising professional judgment, tact, and discretion when dealing with sensitive matters, and/or people.Demonstrated experience working successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.Ability to multitask and adjust to professionally changing priorities, strong collaboration skills, exceptionally organized and detail-oriented.Ability to be proactive, resourceful, responsive, and efficient.Required Education
