The firm’s groundbreaking approach—bringing together legal services, advocacy and business strategy—differentiates Manatt from its competitors and positions the firm to provide a unique and compelling value proposition.Position OverviewThe position will work closely with the Firm’s General Counsel and Conflicts team in managing, researching and monitoring potential conflicts of interest and risk management issues to avoid possible legal conflicts and business issues.Key ResponsibilitiesWork with Firm professionals and the General Counsel’s office to process, examine, propose, modify and ultimately finalize waiver letters, disclosures, and engagement agreements on a matter-by-matter basis.Communicate with and advise professionals, secretaries and other Firm personnel on established Firm policies and procedures related to conflicts.Consult with the Conflicts Manager on procedural issues concerning Firm policies that affect the Conflicts Department.Propose conflicts language for RFP responses.Draft and review consents, engagement letters, termination letters, and disclosures.Assist with the onboarding of new hires, including reviewing conflict reports, working with candidates to obtain additional information as needed, communicating with appropriate department chairs and the General Counsel regarding conflict issues, waivers, and ethical walls.Review attorney guidelines, outside counsel policies, and contracts received from Firm clients and provide direction and options regarding items of concern, including working with Firm attorneys regarding compliance as it pertains to conflicts.Confirm the need for, and coordinate with the Risk Management manager to create, ethical walls to screen individuals from particular clients and matters as part of the conflict clearing process.Prioritize requests and coordinate with other team members as appropriate to maintain an appropriate flow of priority requests.Advise Firm attorneys and incoming professionals on the resolution of conflicts of interest issues; and possess and maintain knowledge of conflicts of interest rules in California.QualificationsJD degree requiredMinimum of four (4) years of law firm experience clearing and resolving conflict issuesStrong Outlook, Excel, and Word skills requiredMust have excellent oral and written communication skillsMust have excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsMust be extremely detail-oriented, organized, and have great follow-through skillsMust be able to learn new software programs as neededMust have the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlinesMust be able to juggle and prioritize multiple projectsMust be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely mannerMust be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demandsMust be able to communicate effectively with all Firm constituentsExperience with Intapp is a plusThe base annual pay range for this role is between $120,000-$165,000. The base pay to be offered will vary and depend on skills and qualifications, experience, location, and will also take into account internal equity.
