RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care, and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospital's service area.

ResponsibilitiesRiverView Health has an opening for a Vice President of Human Resources. The Vice President of Human Resources will direct the Human Resources and American Heart Training Center departments in alignment with organizational goals and strategy and in accordance with current applicable federal, state, local, and TJC standards. This position reports to and works closely with the CEO to assure that quality personnel are recruited, interviewed, trained, employed, rewarded, and retained.
This position functions as the Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Officer and a liaison between the organization and employees at all levels. This position maintains key responsibility for the coordination of loss control efforts of Worker’s Compensation, employee recruitment, selection, and retention, wage, salary, and benefit administration. This position recommends, implements, and oversees systems for staff evaluation, promotion and recognition, performance coaching, employee health, employee safety, and all other programs involving the welfare of the employees and the employee/employer relationship.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provides leadership, direction, and effective supervision for the Human Resources and Training Center departments.
Recommends, plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs, and evaluates the Human Resources programs of the Association.
Ensures that the Association is in compliance with current applicable state, federal, and TJC standards/regulations regarding wages, overtime, work hours, worker’s/unemployment compensation, FMLA, MN Paid Leave, MN Paid Safe & Sick Time, disability-related accommodations, and ongoing performance and competency evaluations.
Functions as the Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Officer, which includes the filing of necessary reports in a timely manner.
Responsible for coordinating loss control efforts in the area of Worker’s Compensation, which includes the filing of necessary reports in a timely manner.
Responsible for the employee wage and benefit administration programs and makes recommendations.
Assists Leaders with the recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of employees.
Counsels and provides support and guidance to employees as they work through areas of personal/professional concern and challenges or impediments related to their employment. Provides counsel to Leaders as needed/requested in areas like policies and procedures, employee discipline/counseling, documentation, hiring, interviewing, performance evaluation, and other areas of the employer/employee relationship.
QualificationsEducation/Certifications/Licenses:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Management, or related field. Preferred: Master’s degree.
Experience:
5 years of leadership experience in Human Resources preferred. Previous work in the health care field preferred.
Special Skills/Equipment:
Requires exercise of considerable independent judgment in providing leadership within the organization.
Proven success in developing effective recruitment, compensation, benefit, and retention strategy to support the organization and its customers.
The ability to work independently and with frequent interruptions, attention to detail, good organizational, communication, and time management skills are required.
Understanding of and/or experience in a health care setting.
Experience with Microsoft Office products.
Experience in establishing and building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
