Senior Network Engineer (Hybrid)
***This is a hybrid role based on-site in Hoffman Estates, IL***As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of enterprise solutions focused on the areas of Network (LAN, WAN, WiFi, Firewall) and datacenter technologies.Act as an SME, leading end-to-end network solutions by planning, designing, deploying, testing, documenting, troubleshooting, and auditingSkilled architect and administrator of network systemsDeliver presentations, when necessary, about emerging technologies for senior leadershipManage network-related budgetsParticipate in engineering discussions, working with internal and external teamsBe an escalation point for our Tier 1 supportPlanning, implementation, and maintenance of a multitude of communications platforms and technologies.Work closely with other engineers and architects to develop technical documents and to implement new technologies as part of large-scale lifecycle programs and enterprise key initiative.Responsible for creating and delivering best standards and practices across the network domainFollow ITSM/ITIL procedures regarding changes and incidentsOwnership, coordination, and collaboration for any issues brought to your attentionManage vendors, including: reviewing and negotiating contracts, ensuring deliverables are metManage escalations and expedite with vendors when necessaryFamiliar with SoPs, runbooks, project plans, HLD, LLD, configuration templates, operational handoff documentsDevelop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentationsStay engaged and be familiar with latest infrastructure technologies and methodologiesResponsible for lifecycle management, maintenance contracts and licensing, total cost of ownership and inventory control of all network assets globallyQualifications5+ years of experience working with network services, including: routing, switching, VPN/tunneling, wireless, load balancers, oob, datacenter, and firewallsKnowledge across different types of network connectivity tech such as: MPLS, VPN, Internet, SDWAN, and point-to-pointAn understanding of the OSI model and how systems and services operate within the modelFamiliarity with enterprise-class network management and analysis systems, such as: ManageEngine, Ekahau, and WiresharkCapable of implementing network systems, including: creating configuration cutsheets/runbook, change requests, and handoff docs for operationsExperience troubleshooting networked systems and working with operations teams for problem isolation and resolutionAbility to manage conflicting prioritiesPerform other duties and responsibilities, as assignedMust have problem solving skills and the ability to multitaskAbility to work under pressure and at a huge volume and fast pace environment
