Responsibilities:The
Workers’ Compensation Director
is a member of the claims team and has ownership of the WC Claim Product. As a Workers’ Compensation Director at Intrepid, you will be responsible for cultivating and managing relationships – relationships between our Claim Handling Partners, our Internal Departments and most importantly, our valued customers. You will help to develop, support and maintain innovative processes and procedures to drive results and address challenges specific to our franchise clients. You will help answer claim related questions from policyholders, participate in claim reviews, assist in compliance related matters, participate in special projects and most importantly, make us better.
Key functions include but are not limited to:Technical Excellence
Partners with Claim Account Executive in the preparation and delivery of Client Claim Reviews.
Owns Workers Compensation Medical Panels.
Develop communication cadence to ensure key internal and external stakeholders’ awareness of Large Loss.
Reviews and provides consultation on WC claim settlements and reserves at or above $250,000.
Responsible for designing and maintaining WC Claim Handling Guidelines.
Maintain ownership and compliance to Reserving Best Practices.
Serve as Worker’s Compensation Advocate for VIP Clients.
TPA Management Oversight
Proactively manage the day-to-day expectations with the Workers Compensation TPA Program.
Promotes adherence to Claims Handling Standards through regular communication and facilitation of training with TPA.
Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reserving practices.
Develop Key Performance Indicators and dashboards to monitor claim handling trends.
Conducts quarterly Workers Compensation Auditing of TPA, including communication to all stakeholders regarding claim outcomes.
Leadership
Reviews analyses, trends, or key insights monthly, quarterly and/or annually to assess Workers Compensation program performance against Key performance indicators.
Own Data Integrity.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders in the review of Loss trends and Loss Control capabilities.
Acts as Technical resource for internal and external stakeholders.
Partner with Sales and Marketing on delivery of Claims Value Proposition.
This role is based in our Overland Park, KS office. It is a full-time, in-office role.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
Insurance related designation (AIC, SCLA and/or CPCU) preferred.
Minimum 7 years of Workers Compensation claim handling.
Minimum 3 years of experience managing or supporting client relationships specific to the insurance business.
Prior formal leadership experience preferred.
Track record of success with positions of increasing responsibility.
Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills.
Exceptional communication (written and verbal), evaluating, influencing, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills to effectively develop productive working relationships with internal/external peers and other professionals.
Travel Requirements
Low to moderate level of travel required (10%-25%).
