$55,692 - $71,032 Annually.The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans. SFDPH strives to achieve its mission through the work of two main Divisions - the San Francisco Health Network and Population Health.Under immediate supervision, the 2604 Food Service Worker performs a wide variety of manual work involved in the storage, preparation, and serving of food in an institutional kitchen or dining area; keeps kitchens, dining rooms, and associated equipment in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition; and performs related duties as required.The duties of a 2604 Food Service Worker include but are not limited to the following:Sets up food stations, counters, and tables for food service per policy and procedures.Prepares regular diet food (e.g., toast, cereal, sandwiches, salads, etc.) for customers and may assist in special diet preparation.Assists cooks in basic food preparation by light cooking; panning up food; and prepping food items.Assists in the preparation of food products by measuring and weighing appropriate amounts of ingredients.Serves food to customers and patients in cafeterias, dining halls, and hospital wards.Maintains daily supply of serving utensils and items needed for service.Performs routine auxiliary tasks such as carrying supplies to and from storage rooms.Assembles patient's meals by reading menus that indicate dietary requirements.Lifts 50 lbs. of foods in bulk and transports to storage area.Handles cash appropriately by verifying the cash register and making change accurately.Receives, stores, and issues food and supply items according to invoices.Maintains department sanitation by washing and sanitizing pots, pans, and other areas when required.Maintains cleanliness of work areas by utilizing sanitation chemicals.Maintains cleanliness of cookware and utensils.The 2604 Food Service Worker may perform other duties as assigned.How to qualify

EDUCATION:

Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.ANDEXPERIENCE:

Possession of six (6) months of food handling experience in the food service industry.Substitution:

Completion of twelve (12) semester units or equivalent credits in Food Service, Culinary Arts, Dietetics, and/or Nutrition can substitute for the experience.Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.What else should I know?

Selection Procedures:After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process.Candidates will be required to complete an MQSQ as part of the employment application.Multiple Choice Examination: (Weight: 100%)Candidates that meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in a Multiple Choice exam that is designed to measure the knowledge, skills, and abilities in job-related areas.This is a standardized examination; therefore, test questions and answers are not available for public inspection or review.If you also apply and meet the minimum qualifications for the 2606 Senior Food Service Worker recruitment, you will only be scheduled once for the Written Core Food Service Worker Examination.Exam Score Results/Banked Scores:The score you achieve on this examination shall be valid and "banked" for three years.Certification:The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of 10 Scores.Eligible List/Score Report:Once you pass the exam, you will be placed onto an eligible list and given a score and a rank.How to apply:
