Job Overview:
Legacy Early Learning Center is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Food Service Director & Custodian. This dual role is critical in maintaining a healthy, clean, and safe environment for children, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing nutritious meals, maintaining cleanliness, and upholding the highest standards of hygiene across the daycare facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Service Director
Menu Planning & Meal Preparation:
Develop and execute child-friendly, balanced, and nutritious meal plans adhering to state guidelines and food safety regulations. Prepare meals daily for children from 6 weeks to 4 years, ensuring dietary needs and allergies are accommodated.
Inventory & Ordering:
Maintain kitchen inventory, order food and supplies, and ensure proper storage following food safety standards.
Compliance & Record Keeping:
Ensure the daycare meets all food-related licensing and inspection standards. Keep accurate records of meals served, inventory, and food safety logs.
Food Service Management:
Manage all aspects of food service including portion control, sanitation, and presentation. Train staff on food safety practices as necessary.
Custodian
Cleaning & Maintenance:
Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, common areas, restrooms, and kitchen to maintain a sanitary environment. Empty trash, sanitize surfaces, vacuum/mop floors, and clean windows to ensure all areas meet hygiene standards.
Routine Safety Checks:
Conduct routine safety inspections of the facility to ensure equipment, furniture, and play areas are clean and safe for use. Address minor repairs and report larger maintenance issues to the Director.
Compliance & Emergency Preparedness:
Follow state regulations for sanitation and safety within the daycare environment. Assist in emergency drills (fire, tornado, etc.) and ensure safety protocols are followed throughout the facility.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary or sanitation certifications are a plus.
Previous experience in food service, preferably in an educational or daycare setting.
Strong understanding of food safety regulations (ServSafe certification preferred).
Experience with cleaning and maintenance responsibilities.
Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and pay attention to detail.
Friendly, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to stand for long periods and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday.
Typical shift time would be 7am - 3pm.
