General Description:
The Director of Curriculum is responsible for PreK-12 curriculum development, the improvement of instruction and district assessment practices. The Director of Curriculum has overall program responsibility for mastery-based, learner-centered instruction and facilitates district-wide and department meetings. The Director of Curriculum has the responsibility for establishing, implementing and assessing programs while school Principals have the responsibility for administering the day-to-day operation and quality of these programs aligned to Farmington’s core improvement documents. The Director prepares and manages relevant budget accounts. The Director of Curriculum is evaluated by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Human Resources with input from Principals. The Director of Curriculum evaluates the district-wide content area specialists, with input from Principals. In addition, the Director of Curriculum oversees multilingual learner programming, the TEAM certification modules and serves as the district testing coordinator.
Qualifications:
Candidate should meet all of the teaching certification requirements of the State of Connecticut.
Candidate should hold or be eligible for a Connecticut intermediate administrators’ certificate (092).
Consideration will be given to the following:
Knowledge of mastery-based and learner-centered curriculum development processes, models of instruction and assessment practices that promote deeper learning.
Demonstrated success in leading school and district improvement efforts.
Experience at the secondary level preferred.
References that indicate the candidate exhibits exceptional teaching talent and successful experience leading workshops.
Supervisory experience.
Knowledge of best practices and research related to effective teaching, learning and programming approaches.
Knowledge of multilingual learners and best practices in programming.
Skilled facilitator of professional development.
Various life experiences that contribute to the candidate’s understanding of deeper learning experiences for all students.
Communication, leadership, planning, supervisory and budgeting skills.
Salary:
$164,827 - $176,862
