Seton Hall University, an archdiocesan Catholic institution founded in 1856, invites applications for a full-time tenure track professor at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences to start Fall 2025, pending final budgetary approval.

The Department of Biological Sciences is undergoing rapid growth and seeks to develop coursework and research in cancer biology and related fields.

The Department of Biological Sciences offers a diverse research environment including PhD/MS graduate programs, core facilities, and a collaborative environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop a research program that involves both undergraduate and graduate students and can be externally funded.

Teach biology major required courses, cancer focused courses, and graduate courses within their area of expertise.

Mentor graduate students' research and offer experiential research opportunities to undergraduate students.

Provide services to the department, college, and university.

Run core biology courses and support the biology majors in all sciences.

Increase the variety of upper-level bio-electives by offering courses such as cancer biology, cancer prevention, and/or cancer therapies.

Assist with educating, managing, mentoring, and advising the increased number of biology majors.

Provide cancer-based research space for undergraduates and graduate students.

Assist with the day-to-day activities important to a functional department.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Cancer sciences or related fields. Preferred candidates would have 2 years of relevant postdoctoral training, a strong publication record, and previous teaching experience at the college level. (ABDs will be considered)

Desired Qualifications:

Applicants will be expected to establish and sustain an energetic, externally funded research program. The successful candidate will mentor graduate student research/projects and offer experiential research opportunities to undergraduate students.

They will engage in service for the department, college, and university, including, but not limited to, committee work and undergraduate student advising.
