Assistant Professor of ArtEssential Functions:As an intentionally Christian academic community, Christian employees are hired to advance the mission of Carson-Newman as expressed in our strategic plan, Acorns to Oaks.This position is for an Assistant Professor of Art. Duties include: teaching responsibilities, management and continual improvement of the Bachelor of Arts curriculum in Art, Design, and Photography, academic advising, faculty committee assignments and campus activity participation, involvement in events and/or required departmental tasks, and professional practice within the field of Art, Design, and/or Photography.Performs other duties as assigned.Education:
MFA or equivalent in Photography or Graphic Design/Visual Communications.Experience:
Teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred.Required Skills:
Candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of Art will teach courses in the Photography Major, as well as courses in Graphic Design and art foundations at all undergraduate levels. The Carson-Newman Photography Major combines analog, film-based and digital photography instruction. An ability to teach analog film-based photography is preferred, along with a broad range of skills teaching beginning through advanced courses in digital photography. Knowledge of Adobe CC applications such as Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as other digital photography applications is essential. The ideal candidate will also be willing to teach beginning Graphic Design courses, Art Fundamentals, Art History, and have gallery exhibition experience. We encourage candidates who are deeply committed to a strong arts education in combination with a rigorous liberal arts education in a Christian setting. Teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred, but not required.Physical Demands:
