The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled based on student enrollment and authorized funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.ResponsibilitiesPromote the University’s mission, vision, and core valuesAdhere to CSUDH Policies and Procedures including all Guidelines stated on the University Faculty HandbookDevelop course syllabus on assigned course/s and develop appropriate course evaluations and learning activities that meet course objectives, program learning outcomes, and accreditation requirementsProvide up-to-date occupational therapy course content in line with current professional trends and practice demandsImplement appropriate instructional methods and technology that enhance student learning outcomesMaintain office hours and be accessible to students, faculty, and staffProvide timely, appropriate, and constructive student feedback that elicits critical thinking, enhances clinical reasoning, and promotes professional developmentContribute to curriculum development and the department strategic plan goalsParticipate in faculty meetings as well as department and university eventsParticipate in evaluation processes that determine instructional effectivenessPrepare and submit instructional records, reports, and grades according to university policyQualificationsRequired QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.Preferred QualificationsA Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.A PhD, a Post-professional OTD, or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.Employment RequirementSatisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
