The Idaho Hospital Association (IHA) is looking for a Director, Government Relations.
Job overview:
Executes the organization’s advocacy plan. Responsible for grassroots advocacy, researching policy issues, reviewing and analyzing legislative proposals, lobby/legislative relations, and fundraising campaigns.
Key responsibilities:
Perform lobbying & legislative relations, monitor rules and administrative bulletins, and review/analyze legislative proposals.
Monitor legislative committees, interim committees and working groups.
Responsible for convening and supporting the organization’s Legislative Policy and Rules Committee.
Organize state and federal grassroots advocacy efforts.
Responsible for the PAC fundraising campaign.
Perform research on policy issues.
Assist in developing strategies in support of the organization’s advocacy efforts.
Develop issue briefs, white papers and talking points on legislative issues.
Assist in the development of content for legislative materials and member advocacy toolkits.
Assist in federal advocacy efforts, if needed.
Some travel is required.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (required) / Master’s degree (preferred).
Public policy/advocacy: 3 years required / 5 years preferred.
Knowledge of the legislative, budgeting and administrative rulemaking processes.
Healthcare-related experience (preferred).
Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong public speaking skills.
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Driver's License Required.
