Develop and implement the total sales and marketing effort of the hotel, including securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, supervising activities of sales personnel, and executing sales and marketing strategies to maximize the profitability of the hotel while maintaining customer satisfaction.Essential Functions:
Direct the activities of hotel sales team, providing leadership and motivation necessary to implement effective sales and marketing strategies and to maximize the generation of hotel sales/revenues.Develop and maintain relationships with key clients in order to produce group and/or convention business, to include room sales, food and beverage sales, and catering/banquet services.Develop and manage the departmental budget and monitor sales activities/performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan and to accurately report variances/projections to management.Direct the scheduling of conventions and business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel-level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.Develop hotel level tactical sales plans to support overall system wide sales plans/strategies and programs.Develop and maintain great relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups and companies, and attend out-of-town conventions to generate convention and group business.Assist the General Manager in the development and update of the hotel level business plan to include input on sales goals and plans that support the overall business and sales strategies of the company.Hire, train, and provide career development for all sales personnel; conduct performance evaluations, and provide feedback to employees.Experience and Education:10 years of experience in sales or marketing to include five years in a hospitality or hotel sales program. Supervisory experience is desirable.5+ years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field required.Previous experience in hotel sales required.High School diploma or equivalent required.Customer Service experience required, hotel experience preferred.Previous supervisory experience required.Valid driver’s license required.Previous experience with catering sales a plus.Work Environment:Ability to work with various pieces of equipment such as computer, copier, fax machine, scanner, telephone, and other office equipment.Ability to work with various software programs, such as those provided by the brand, company i.e. Microsoft products.Office setting although role will require visits to clients so indoor/outdoor time and driving to meetings.Physical Requirements:Long hours sometimes required.Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels.Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range.Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.Mental Requirements:Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly in English.Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from multiple sources.Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.Mathematical Reasoning - Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.Must be able to prioritize departmental functions in order to meet due dates and deadlines.Essential Duties and Functions:Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.Maintain regular attendance, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook, when working.Comply at all times with the hotel’s policies and procedures to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.Positively interact with hotel guests.Anticipate guests’ needs, and respond promptly.Budget and achieve sales goals.Conduct competitive market research.Motivate department staff to perform an effective outside sales program.Develop and implement new, special market programs.React to relevant current business trends, market conditions, and local area special events.Evaluate potential business for existing and new markets.Assist in preparing weekly payroll.Check and respond to electronic communications in a timely fashion.Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring his/her attention.Supervise staff including; interview, hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach & counsel, recommend and conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications, recommend discipline & termination as appropriate.Prepare daily/weekly schedule and set priorities, while scheduling time effectively.Monitor quarterly and yearly sales goals.Prepare all weekly reports and activities in Sales department.Revise and adjust market plan on a quarterly basis or as much as needed throughout the year according to changing business trends.Maintain effective communication with all hotel departments.Oversee all departmental operations and employee performance.Lead and conduct department meetings/attend hotel meetings.Other duties as assigned.By continuing, you certify that information given is true and complete and that in the event of employment, you understand that any willful omission or misrepresentation may result in discharge.
