Position DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. SAP S/4HANA Database Lead to join our team in support of a large-scale ERP financial management modernization program for a Cabinet-level federal agency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SAP S/4HANA database administration and leadership. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on database management, ensuring the optimal performance, security and reliability of our SAP S/4HANA database systems. The Sr. SAP S/4HANA Database Lead will oversee a team of database professionals while also performing critical database administration tasks.This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to be in our Fairfax, VA office two days per week.

Your future duties and responsibilitiesLead and mentor a team of Database Administrators and other database professionals.Set strategic direction for database management and ensure alignment with organizational goals.Oversee the planning and execution of database-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.Install, configure and maintain SAP S/4HANA database systems to ensure high availability and performance.Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.Monitor database performance and perform tuning activities to optimize database efficiency and responsiveness.Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.Plan and execute database upgrades, patches and migrations to keep the SAP S/4HANA environment up-to-date and secure.Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the stability and reliability of database systems.Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures and policies.Prepare and present reports on database performance, issues and project status to senior management and stakeholders.Work closely with SAP Basis administrators, application developers and other IT teams to support and optimize the SAP S/4HANA environment.Provide training and support to team members and stakeholders on database management best practices.Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to SAP S/4HANA and database administration.Recommend and implement improvements to enhance system performance, security and reliability.

Required qualifications to be successful in this roleBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., SAP Certified Technology Associate) is a plus.Minimum of 8 years of experience in database administration with a focus on SAP S/4HANA and at least 2 years in a leadership role.Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA database administration, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery and security management.Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.High level of attention to detail and accuracy in database management and documentation.

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:Experience with SAP HANA database administration and optimization.Knowledge of SAP Basis administration and SAP application architecture.Familiarity with cloud-based SAP S/4HANA deployments and management.Experience with data replication and disaster recovery solutions.Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) for automation of database tasks.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $111,600.00 - $241,600.00.
