DRUG DIVERSION ANALYST.WORK SCHEDULE• Full-Time / 40 hours per week• Day ShiftPOSITION HIGHLIGHTS• Be responsible for the routine monitoring of potential incidents of drug diversion and the reporting of preliminary investigations results to pharmacy leadership and the UW Medicine Drug Diversion Prevention Manager.• Support routine surveillance, investigation, and controlled substances program development activities at UWMC.• Assist with policy and standard operating procedures and supporting Pharmacy leaders with required data and reports.• Analyze data and trends from multiple external and internal systems including EPIC, Cerner, and Carefusion requiring in-depth knowledge of the EHR, clinical signs/symptoms related to pain management, sedation, and anesthesia.• Conduct evaluations of external data analytical systems, collaborate with the Drug Diversion Prevention Specialist and Director of Pharmacy on policy and standard operating procedures related to controlled substances.• Ensure that UWMC remains compliant with state and federal regulations relating to controlled substances and is responsible for daily operations of the Drug Diversion Prevention and Detection program at UWMC.• This position requires in-depth knowledge of DEA regulations and drug diversion surveillance strategies.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES• Establish and maintain a comprehensive surveillance program to detect potential medical diversion including controlled substances, high cost medications, and other medications that have an appeal for diversion.• Be responsible for routine controlled substance monitoring and auditing at UWMC, including controlled substances handling processes to ensure compliance with DEA regulations and current policies and procedures.• Optimize the use of reports and functionality of available technology (PYXIS reports, forensic analytic reports) to identify medication diversion and documentation discrepancies/issues.• Perform trend analysis and assessments of available information to identify medication diversion activities at UWMC.• Support the Drug Diversion Assessment Response Team (DDART) during investigation of suspected drug diversion incidents.• Coordinate the completion of electronic and manual audits to assess compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards. Act as the internal and external contact for controlled substance related data for UWMC.• Assist with annual and biennial pharmaceutical inventories and analysis of data.• Assist with development and maintenance of drug handling, diversion prevention, detection, and reporting policies and procedures.Strong candidates will have previous experience as a compliance analyst, auditor or Pharmacy compliance team leader. Strong knowledge of technology and information systems used within Pharmacy Services and data/reporting processes and limitations is desired.REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS• Bachelor's Degree in business or health-related field AND 2-3 years of work experience in a health care setting.• Current/valid State of Washington Pharmacy Assistant OR Pharmacy Technician certification.CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:UW Medicine is committed to being a drug-free workplace.
