Senior Principal Estimator
As a Senior Principal Estimator, you will provide planning and cost basis support on Total Installed Cost (TIC) project estimates. The Senior Principal Estimator will work independently on estimates as part of a project team with support from the Estimating Department and report to the VP of Estimating. Services include preparing cost estimates, risk & contingency analysis, and database development & input. The Senior Principal Estimator has experience creating AACE Class 1-5 Estimates for projects and has experience in the Refining, Oil, Gas, and Chemical Industries. Position to be based either in Baton Rouge, LA or Houston, TX, depending on candidate's location.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develops, and reviews all phases of FEL estimates.
Reviews design scope criteria and quantities for completeness and reasonableness, coordinates with the project to develop additional estimating bases when information is incomplete.
Establishes the conceptual scope of studies when definition is not available.
Coordinates and establishes scoping requirements for the overall cost estimate for discipline or other specialty, and coordinates the timely, systematic, and complete acquisition of scope definition and related data.
Prepares estimate basis and assumption documentation.
Coordinates pricing structure or criteria to be used for discipline or specialty which meet the objectives of the cost estimate.
Align the scope, schedule, and budget to assemble Total Installed Cost (TIC) data for assigned projects.
Analyze unit rates to be sure they are well understood and defendable to peer review.
Maintain data of current labor, material, and equipment rates, cost escalation trends, and labor availability information.
Assemble cost data and inputs for dissemination into the project control database and/or the project or leadership before, during, and after the project is complete.
Perform project risk and contingency analysis that may affect project costs and schedules.
Provide key data for metrics and analysis.
Capable of presenting estimates and supporting documents for all types of reviews, both internal and external
Requirements:Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum of fifteen (15) years' experience with Refining, Oil, Gas, and Chemical Estimating core processes and procedures.
Proficient hands on experience with AspenTech Estimating software tools (Icarus 2000, KBase, Capital Cost Estimator).
Estimating experience on Engineering, EPC, and Construction only projects.
Extensive knowledge and experience in EPC estimating practices and methods, including demonstrated ability to organize, direct, perform, review and present cost estimating products with a minimum of supervision.
Must have knowledge of the estimating process to develop conceptual estimates.
Ability to develop estimates with limited Engineering input.
Ability to develop an indirect staffing plan and other indirect construction cost.
