Additionally, the team conducts experiments for a wide range of employee and talent-related product features, and measures the impact of product and program initiatives in enhancing our employees' career experiences at Amazon.
Amazon's GTMC team is looking for Economists who are highly specialized in the field of macroeconomics and time series forecasting. The economist will enhance science models by enabling them to adapt to external talent dynamics, enabling personalized, consistent, and high-impact employee experiences across the talent lifecycle. This will make the models more responsive to evolving market conditions and enhance the alignment of Amazon-wide talent strategies with team and organization-specific strategic objectives.
Key job responsibilities:The Economists within GTMC will be primarily involved in building advanced forecasting and time series models that account for the nuances of aggregate econometric modeling within the HR space. This includes modeling the inter-relationship of various talent outcomes, as well as scenario planning and modeling tasks to quantify the implications of external macro as well as industry-level shocks on key HR talent outcomes.
The economists will closely collaborate with a range of scientists from different backgrounds, as well as program and product leaders, to implement and assess the science solutions into the company's products.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in economics or equivalent- 2+ years in post-doctoral work experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of industry, consulting, government, or academic research experience- Knowledge of at least one statistical software package such as R, Stata, Matlab, SAS- Experience in prediction and forecasting in a research or industrial environment- Deep knowledge in time series econometrics, VAR models, empirical macroeconomics, or the use of micro and panel data to improve and validate traditional aggregate models.- Strong background in statistics methodology, applications to business problems, and/or big data.- Ability to work in a fast-paced business environment.- Strong research track record.- Effective verbal and written communications skills with both economists and non-economist audiences.- Advanced expertise and knowledge of econometric observational causal inference models.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
