Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College is seeking a full-time Chief Advancement Officer. In this role, you will lead and grow our fundraising, marketing and communications efforts for both the Abbey and Seminary College. Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College sits north of Covington, Louisiana on a 1200-acre picturesque campus.In December 1889, a small group of monks from Saint Meinrad Abbey in Indiana repeated the ancient process of establishing a monastery, "a school for the Lord's service," in southern Louisiana. Over the past century, Saint Joseph Abbey has become an enduring presence in the Gulf South, etching in small strokes an indelible mark on local and regional history. The abbey and seminary college has educated many of the region's civic and religious leaders. It has founded and staffed numerous parishes in the New Orleans and Northshore areas. It has had a significant impact on area culture by sponsoring and promoting programs in both liturgical and secular arts. And finally, Saint Joseph Abbey has maintained and cultivated an abiding spiritual presence in the community, which is manifested in its daily rhythms of prayer.Chief Advancement OfficerDepartment of Institutional AdvancementSaint Joseph Abbey and Seminary CollegePosition OverviewThe Chief Advancement Officer reports directly to the Abbot of Saint Joseph Abbey and the President-Rector of Saint Joseph Seminary College. The Chief Advancement Officer leads an integrated fundraising, marketing and communications program to move various constituencies toward a more intense personal and financial commitment to Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College.Position DutiesProvide leadership and implementation in major, planned, capital, and endowed giftsDirect and coordinate Department of Institutional Advancement annual workflow, goals, and objectivesCollaborate with Alumni Relations as pertains to Institutional AdvancementLead, manage, and evaluate Department of Institutional Advancement administrative and professional support staffServe as Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College’s diocesan interface/liaison as pertains to institutional advancementCultivating Gifts (Major, Capital, Endowed, Planned & Campaigns)Prospect ResearchAppeal CoordinationOngoing engagement with current Donors, including building long-term relationshipsSupervise all events, including attending Fundraising Strategy and OperationsDevelop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy that is inclusive of diverse revenue streams – including foundations, corporations and individuals. As part of this strategy, set, monitor, and report on measurable goals for revenue sustainability and growth.Partner with the Abbot and President-Rector for Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College fundraising priorities as related to the organization’s strategic priorities.Work closely with the Abbot, President-Rector, Department of Institutional Advancement team to forecast annual revenue goals, perform monthly revenue reconciliation and manage donor reports to maintain accuracy and financial accountability.Develop and maintain internal systems that increase transparency and integration of data across the organization. This includes evaluation of existing technology and tools.Evaluate current department structure and needs, build or expand (recruit, hire, coach and supervise) a team of development staff based on needs and growth of the department.QualificationsM.B.A. or equivalent and ten years of related work experience preferred.Proven track record in fundraising from diverse sources, including experience applying moves management and facilitating leadership gift conversations with individual, corporate and/or foundation donors.Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the grant seeking process, including grant writing, submission and reporting. A record of successful grant awards from major national and/or international foundations preferred.Proven track record of leading people and processes within complex organizations, including coaching and motivating teams to successfully reach and/or exceed fundraising goals.High ability to effectively manage processes and projects for multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, iteratively and creatively with a diverse set of stakeholders, to co-create processes and solutions that meet the needs of the organization as well as donors and funders.Excellent interpersonal communication skills, energy, and enthusiasm with the ability to build long-term relationships and represent the organization to external audiences.Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to write and present fundraising materials to a diverse set of audiences.Ability to engage and support volunteer leadership with their efforts in fundraising, consultation and advocacy.Demonstrated flexibility, self-awareness, professional integrity and cultural competence – including commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.Essential Physical RequirementsAbility to travel independently to attend meetings.Ability to converse verbally and in writing with donors, prospects, and other business partners.Ability to maintain a full-time position with some extended hours required to travel and attend donor events.How To Apply
