JOBThe Executive Dean of Career & Technical Education (CTE) leads the division in fulfilling our mission and promoting equitable access and success. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and serves as a member of the college's executive team. The Executive Dean of CTE contributes to the development and implementation of the college's academic services by providing educational leadership and administrative direction for the following programs and departments: Apprenticeship, Applied Technologies, Behavioral Health & Health Promotions, Health Sciences, Brooks Center, Emergency Services, Diesel Technology, Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Business Programming, Early Childhood Education, Mid-Willamette Education Consortium & Perkins V grant, and Yamhill Valley Campus CTE, Eola Center & Wine Studies. Any applicants who earned academic credentials from outside of the United States and wish to use those credits for consideration must also upload an evaluation of college credit earned at the non-U.S. institution.EXAMPLE OF DUTIESLeadership & SupervisionMotivates and encourages all team members to actively participate in continuous improvement activities in order to facilitate delivery of effective, high-quality services to both internal and external customers.Provides strong leadership and represents the division through a participatory management style, team-building activities, and problem-solving techniques.Provides leadership for the recruitment and hiring of outstanding staff to enhance the capacity and diversity of the college; supports innovative staff development to ensure continual learning; provides effective evaluation of administrators to promote continuous professional growth; recommends the retention, non-retention, promotion, or reassignment of existing staff.Responsible for direct coordination, supervision, and evaluation of management level Deans and Directors within the division.Provides leadership in and contributes to the college's diversity plan by fostering an environment of cooperation between students, staff, and the public who represent a variety of cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds.Builds, promotes, and leads effective teams to support the instructional and service mission of the college.Employs effective interpersonal skills to empower staff in the performance of their work.Maintains a working knowledge of all negotiated agreements, institutional policies, regulations, and procedures; may participate in collective bargaining with employee associations as a representative of the college.Uses project management, teamwork, and leadership development skills to bring college-wide projects to completion.Maintains and builds effective collaborative relationships with business, legislators, educational institutions, governmental agencies, and community organizations to ensure quality and relevance and compliance of college programs and practices.Attends board meetings as a member of the college staff; participates by reporting and discussing matters pertinent to the academic affairs of the college.Represents the college at local, state, and/or national levels.Strategic Planning & Budget OversightCollaboratively plans, develops, and monitors division goals, policies, and strategic plans. Interprets decisions and policy formulation to staff, students, and the public. Cooperatively develops, monitors, and manages division budget; coordinates long-range budget planning, including intra-divisional budget transfers; reviews college budget planning and spending. Promotes the collection, analysis, and assessment of data for the purpose of creating improved processes, programs, and services. Facilitates intra-college and community resource development to effectively serve students and staff. Serves on Executive Team, Academic Affairs, and other committees. Plays a central role setting and articulating college and instructional vision. Participates in the development of college policies, procedures, and guidelines.Curriculum & Instruction OversightPromotes curriculum innovation and instructional excellence. Pursues alternative methods for meeting varied learning needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students. Extends the use of technology to support and enhance teaching and learning. Recommends new curricula. Gives final approval to the schedule of classes and instructional assignments within the Executive Dean's area of responsibility.Institutional ExpectationsEmbraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff, and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds. Participates in recruitment and retention of students at an individual and institutional level in the promotion of student success. Embraces, understands, and uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions. Provides high quality, effective service to internal and external customers through continuous improvement and adoption of lean office practices.SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATIONSCHEDULE & MODALITYRegular remote/hybrid work is not a feature of this position. At the supervisor's discretion, exemptions may be made for special projects or responsibilities requiring periodic needed focus time.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTThis is a 100%, 12-month exempt assignment of the E1 band and grade. This position has a 1-year probationary period. All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college. Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends. This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations. Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire. Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington, or Idaho residency as a condition of employment. Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit, and full background checks. Providing false information will result in rejection of an application, employment offer, or dismissal.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSSedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
