The McGuire Lab is seeking a
Staff Scientist
to assist with the development, validation, and testing of novel vaccine candidates aimed at preventing infection by cancer-associated viruses of global health importance including Epstein-Barr virus and Kaposi-Sarcoma Associated Herpesvirus. Assignments will be project-oriented where goals are long-term, rather that experiment-oriented. Responsibilities
Conduct vaccine-challenge studies in animal models Perform data analysis, prepare reports and manuscripts Supervise research technicians and assist graduate students as needed Track data, submit reports, attend meetings, and present data to a multi-center vaccine development consortium Other duties as assigned Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in immunology, or a related field 2+ years relevant postdoctoral experience Experience with serological assays Experience working with viruses in a BSL2 setting Experience working with mice in a lab environment Proven track record of publications and strong written communication skills Must be willing to work with animal models including mice PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Expertise in B cell immunology is highly desirable Must be self-motivated and show initiative and willingness to take up new skills and responsibilities Able to work well both in teams and independently, as well as to multitask effectively Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills A statement describing your commitment and contributions toward greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism in your career or that will be made through your work at Fred Hutch is requested of all finalists. The annual base salary range for this position is from $82,123 to $185,000 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
