Child Counselor
to support the US Navy’s Fleet & Family Support Program (NFFSP). This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialized counseling services to children and families affected by family violence or child abuse.
Locations:
This role offers remote flexibility, need to reside within 100 miles of the following cities:
Gulfport, MS Jacksonville or Pensacola, FL Los Angeles, CA Pearl Harbor, HI Seattle, WA Job Overview:
As a
Child Counselor , you will deliver crisis intervention, non-medical counseling, and advocacy services to children exposed to family violence or child abuse. Your expertise will play a vital role in ensuring the emotional well-being and safety of these children through short-term counseling and case management. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical personnel and family advocates, to provide holistic care.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver immediate crisis intervention and psychological first aid to children in need. Conduct assessments and provide solution-focused, short-term counseling to children and families. Collaborate with family advocates and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive case management. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Navy and federal regulations. Facilitate emergency response services and participate in public awareness campaigns such as
Ready Navy . Conduct risk assessments for children exposed to domestic violence and work closely with the Navy’s
Family Advocacy Program (FAP) . Qualifications:
Required:
Education:
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), or Clinical/Counseling Psychology (PhD).
Licensure:
Active, unrestricted licensure in any US state or territory as one of the following:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP)
Experience:
2+ years of post-graduate, supervised clinical experience (2000+ hours). Experience working with children exposed to family violence or victims of child abuse.
Other:
US Citizenship required with a successful background investigation.
Preferred:
Experience providing short-term counseling in military or high-stress environments. Knowledge of military family dynamics and referral resources. Proficiency with telehealth platforms and virtual counseling services. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Compensation:
$75,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
Positions are
contingent and will begin upon contract award.
