A comprehensive community college, we offer instruction in Transitional Studies to include awarding a high school diploma, GED preparation, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees, and community education in our two-county region.

Olympic College is recruiting for a full-time tenure-track faculty to join the faculty and staff team in the Social Sciences & Humanities Division. The ideal candidate will be prepared to teach both US and World history survey courses, although consideration will be given to candidates who can teach US history and have a specialization in one or more of the following areas: African American History, Latinx American History, Native American/Indigenous History, Asian American/AAPI History, or LGBTQI+ History.

Applicants with community college teaching experience and/or experience teaching introductory courses in U.S. and world history are especially encouraged to apply.

Teach classes in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats, primarily on the Bremerton campus, but also at the Poulsbo and Shelton campuses when requested;Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping; class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested; academic advising and systematic assessment of student learning are required. Contribute to development of History curriculum and student learning outcomes.Effectively communicate with students, faculty, staff and administrators; maintain physical office hours for student consultation; attend faculty, department and division meetings; serve on college committees and participate in college governance.Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.Successful Applicants WillDeliver instructional course content with excitement and enthusiasm;Utilize a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success;Demonstrate a commitment to teaching diverse students with various education, age, and language backgrounds;Utilize a variety of assessment activities to evaluate student learning and achievement;Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds as well as military veterans;Support diversity in higher education through application of culturally responsive teaching pedagogies and the use of diverse resources/voices, as well as by contributing through actions;Foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation;Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, diversity, and a learning-centered climate;Demonstrate success incorporating accessibility and special needs accommodations via course materials and classroom activities;Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals to maintain effective and positive working relationships;Collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students as part of an educational team;Collaborate with OC faculty in the development of Diversity and Social Justice based courses;Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services, including use of the College-approved learning management system;Demonstrate ethics, integrity and sound professional judgment.Qualifications

Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree in History or a closely related field from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 semester or 24 quarter credits of graduate History coursework.Experience teaching history at the college level.Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and communicate historical concepts and engage students in critical thinking.Desired QualificationsDoctoral Degree in History, related social science, or interdisciplinary fieldExperience teaching at a community college;The ideal candidate will be prepared to teach both US and World history survey courses, although consideration will be given to candidates who can teach US history and have a specialization in one or more of the following areas: African American History, Latinx American History, Native American/Indigenous History, Asian American/AAPI History, or LGBTQI+ History.Additional Information

Terms of EmploymentPlease note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department.
