Position Summary:
The Regional Aquatics Director develops, organizes, and implements high-quality YMCA aquatics programs in a regional position supporting
Kent County and South County locations . Responsible for planning, development, fiscal management, administration of complete YMCA swim program. The position will oversee all aspects of the Aquatics department including: supervision of indoor pool, along with hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating programs, expanding and delivering high quality swim lessons, swim teams, lap and recreational swimming, and safety and risk management. The Senior Aquatics Director is also responsible for the supervision and operations of the North Kingstown Town Beach.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed.
Monitor daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
Provide full oversight of the entire aquatic department including lifeguard scheduling, swim lessons, swim teams, as well as innovative programming to meet the needs of the community.
Provide supervision of swim teams. Some swim coaching experience, a plus.
Establish relationships with local schools and community organizations to recruit lifeguards and swim instructor candidates and to expand swim lessons and water safety programs
Ensure risk management and safety policies are in place and implemented for all aquatic programming including equipment safety checks, emergency drills and in-service trainings.
Ensure national quality standards are met or exceeded in all program areas.
Directly supervises the lifeguards and lifeguard trainer staff; provide training for safety and operations of the beack
Oversee pool schedules
Plan and implement aquatic emergency drills.
Work cooperatively with Association Branch staff regarding teen and community programs.
Develop written goals and objectives annually that align with branch results in areas of program and membership.
Attend appropriate meeting and trainings.
Hire, train, supervise and evaluate all staff under your direct supervision in a consistent and timely manner.
Keep staff schedule complete and current.
Interviews and hire new staff.
Observe swim instructors and team staff to assure program quality on a regular schedule.
Communicate with instructors and team staff in a caring and professional manner.
Time sheet check and verification of hours worked by staff.
Maintain current working knowledge of programs.
Instruct lessons as needed.
Lifeguard as needed.
Communicate with member/parents of concerns, changes, credits or transfers.
Develop new programs to ensure that programs are reflecting the needs of the community.
Responsible for regular inspection of equipment and to follow up with maintenance should repairs be needed.
Monitor phone calls, e-mails and return messages in a timely manner.
Plan yearly budget and monitor monthly reports.
Provide supervisor with appropriate information to prepare annual report.
Keep up with all of the YMCA's safety policies and procedures.
Other responsibilities as determined by your supervisor
Follow and enforce all relevant Association and Branch policies.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current Lifeguarding certificate required. Lifeguard Instructor preferred.
Five to eight years of management experience in Aquatic related fields. (Y management experience preferable.)
At least 5-7 years of experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor with competitive coaching experience preferred.
Certifications / Training:
Maintain current certification in the following:
CPR for the Professional Rescuer
First Aid
Emergency Oxygen Administration
Lifeguard Certification
Lifeguard Instructor
YMCA Swim Instructor Certification
