Senior Financial Analyst, Private Destinations

The Senior Analyst Finance Private Destinations functions as an integral part of the Royal Caribbean Finance department supporting the Private Destinations and Product Development teams. This position will be responsible for developing financial models for the operations of the private destinations portfolio, including detailed assumptions and financial implications. This role will be responsible for all aspects of financial and administrative support functions including planning, reporting, and business analysis for the Private Destinations Operations department. This position is responsible for conducting and coordinating various analyses as determined by Senior Management in support of operations decision-making. Identification of opportunities to improve operating results through financial analysis and development of enhanced management information systems are key activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop financial models focused on the operations of the private destinations portfolio, including understanding and development of assumptions and financial implications.
Provide detailed monthly analysis on operating plan performance and provide forecasts that support organizational goals and objectives.
Create and maintain operating and loss statements of each private destination, including monthly analysis and understanding of variances, working with multiple departments of the organization.
Assist in the annual operating plan process, including development of the planning schedules, spreadsheet tools, comparative data, and communication of corporate objectives for the Private Destinations Department.
Support the annual forecast process and monitor monthly progress, including variance analysis.
Create and maintain accurate and real-time management reports and analysis, including quick turn-around of ad-hoc financial analysis in a dynamic environment.
Perform weekly tracking of Private Destinations expenses & revenue updates to the leadership team.
Provide strong working knowledge of relevant accounting principles to perform financial close functions to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
Identify, quantify, and raise/address risks and opportunities to the operating financial plans, with emphasis on analyzing drivers of performance and any variances to budget and prior year, using those analyses to highlight key trends, opportunities, and risks, and to develop insights and recommendations regarding ways to improve performance.
Departmental Liaison to Accounting Corporate Planning, as well as other departments as needed.
Lead special projects/requests as determined by Private Destinations Management and/or Finance Management.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Understanding and knowledge of US GAAP requirements.
Advanced Word, PowerPoint, and Excel - Including intricate knowledge of advanced formulas (such as index-match) and Excel problem-solving abilities to extract analysis and insights out of data dumps.
Strong knowledge of the cruise industry preferred.
Knowledge of Hyperion, Essbase, Smartview, EPM, and Oracle JD Edwards is helpful.
Financial Modeling: Evaluating data and determining the optimal way to spend to accomplish company goals.
Analytical: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and opportunities of alternative solutions and conclusions.
Complex Problem Solving: Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop options and implement solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting; MBA preferred.
5-7 years Financial Analysis and Accounting experience.
Successful track record in financial analytics.
FINANCIAL/QUANTITATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial modeling: Lead in the development of annual operating plans and forecasts for Private Destinations expenses analysis.
Prepare reclasses, accruals, and other month-end entries to be submitted to accounting.
Develop detailed variance explanations to plan and forecast for CFO variance analysis review of operations expenses.
