Today, our team of more than 700 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy advocates, communications experts, and others work across the United States and the globe from our offices in Beijing; Chicago; New Delhi; New York; San Francisco; Santa Monica; and Washington, D.C.NRDC is seeking a Regional Campaign Manager, Energy Markets & Transmission, to work with the Center for Campaigns and Organizing (CCO) team in our Washington, DC or New York, NY office.Position SummaryThe Regional Campaign Manager, Energy Market & Transmission, will be responsible for developing and executing advocacy strategies and tactics to promote NRDC's clean energy policy agenda and influence federal, state, and regional policymakers. This person will report to the Northeast Campaigns Director with a secondary report to the Director of the FERC Project in the Power Sector. The Regional Campaign Manager, Energy Market & Transmission, will initially focus on advancing transmission to support offshore wind development and other clean energy along the East Coast – particularly with states in PJM, New York Independent System Operator, and ISO New England. The person fulfilling this role will conceive, lead, and coordinate clean energy transmission and clean energy development initiatives at the state, regional, and federal levels, and work closely with external partners. The Regional Campaign Manager, Energy Market & Transmission, will also collaborate with Regional Campaign Directors and state leads in NRDC priority states to implement campaign strategies and tactics, ensuring alignment across the organization and with partners.The position you are applying for is part of the bargaining unit represented by The Washington Baltimore News Guild (WBNG / The Newsguild-CWA Local 32035).ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a comprehensive campaign strategy and associated tactics to advance transmission policies and initiatives necessary to develop offshore wind and support other clean energy along the East Coast.Collaborate closely with Program, Advocacy, and Communications partners, and with offshore wind transmission coalitions.Lead outreach and advocacy efforts to educate policymakers and the public about the importance of offshore wind transmission for clean energy development and climate action.Manage a broad coalition of partners – including leading weekly calls, agenda and follow-up.Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, regulatory agencies, industry partners, environmental organizations, regional grid operators, and community groups.Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to offshore wind transmission and provide timely analysis and recommendations.Prepare, or direct the preparation of, advocacy materials, including policy briefs, presentations, talking points, and press releases, to support campaign objectives.Organize events, meetings, and workshops to facilitate dialogue and consensus-building among stakeholders.Manage campaign consultants, communications consultants, and vendors as necessary to advance the objectives of the campaign.Ability and willingness to work occasional late nights and weekends with short notice. Other duties may be assigned.Manage a campaign budget and develop workplans to advance the campaign’s goals.Qualifications4-7 years of experience in legislative advocacy, government relations, or campaign management.Demonstrated track record of successfully leading advocacy campaigns, engaging stakeholders, and driving policy change.Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to effectively convey complex issues to diverse audiences.Strategic and innovative thinker with the ability to develop and execute innovative campaign strategies and initiatives.Proven experience in managing internal processes, project teams, and budgets.Skills, Abilities, CompetenciesAbility to understand offshore wind energy, transmission infrastructure, and electricity markets in the United States.Proven experience in managing staff, budgets, internal processes, and project teams.Exceptional ability to analyze information, formulate plans, and convey them in writing and through oral presentations.Track record of cultivating high-level relationships with political, non-profit advocacy, and philanthropic leaders, with a well-established professional network in politics, government, and non-profit advocacy.Experienced in and well-prepared to frame issues, use polling and other research to guide advocacy communications, experience developing targeted audience strategies utilizing the voter file and other analytics tools, and organizing outreach to stakeholders and coalition partners through a variety of paid and earned campaign tactics.Ability to build relationships, effectively collaborate and engender trust from peers and colleagues.Aptitude for developing and sustaining a coherent and collective external advocacy message.Demonstrate good judgment, strong work ethic, collegiality.Ability to effectively prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environment.Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with an ability to develop and navigate relationships with influential individuals.Capacity to work efficiently, and independently representing NRDC with strong judgment and professionalism.Ability to travel, approximately 15% annually.Commitment to NRDC’s mission, values, and DEI principles.We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate in hiring or employment on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position, the salary range is $113,000 to $121,000.Our offices are open and we are operating in a hybrid model.
