Chemical Market Analytics by OPIS, a Dow Jones company, enables stakeholders in the global chemical industry to improve operational efficiency with deep insights, future outlooks, price discovery and consultation from a celebrated team of subject matter experts. We offer short- and long-term market coverage for more than 200 core building-block chemicals with a full suite of advisory services and top-tier events held around the globe. The worldwide chemical industry looks to Chemical Market Analytics to guide decisions and help manage risk across the entire value chain.
About the Role:
As Director, you will be responsible for global analysis and coverage of the plastics transition to circularity for the Circular Plastics Service. You will report to the Research and Analysis Executive Director.
The Circular Plastics Service (CPS) provides our clients with the proprietary data, analytical tools, and strategic insight that they require to manage their long-term evolution toward a circular economy for their plastics business.
In addition to this long-term offering, CPS will be launching a complimentary Recycle Plastics Service with a shorter-term focus on the more tactical needs of our clients. This monthly report will provide price discovery and a twelve-month rolling price forecast for the more standard grades of plastic Bales and PCR, a directory of Recyclers and Material Recycle Facilities (MRFs), commentary on relevant market developments, and updates on important regulatory and industry-led initiatives. Initially, the Recycle Plastics Service will cover the US and Europe, with Asian coverage to follow.
You Will:
Serve as the content manager for OPIS’s Circular Plastics Service activities
Take a lead role in developing strategy and direction for growth of the service
Assume a leading role in developing the plastics sustainability organization to meet current objectives and position the team for growth and expansion
Assure content that positions the service with government and financial entities, industry stakeholders (producers, brand owners, retailer), NGOs and stakeholder alliances
Lead the development of content that supports strong relationships with leaders in Government, Finance, NGOs and Industry stakeholders to further advance OPIS’ position in the space
Develop understanding of the technologies for collection and sorting aspects of plastics waste and implications from advancements in IND 4.0
Develop and leverage intra-company expertise and content to support platform deliverables
Regular travel to visit existing clients and cultivate relationships with potential clients across the stakeholder value chain
You Have:
12 years of relevant technical and commercial background in the petrochemical industry
Understanding of mechanical and chemical recycling processes, market drivers, and technologies
Knowledge of technology providers, chemical producers, and plastics markets
In-depth understanding of the plastics value chain, including waste management
Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry; MBA preferred
Proficient in Excel and familiar with databases, process documentation, and business intelligence tools
