Stony Brook University's Undergraduate Biology Program is searching for an Academic Year ( 10 month ) Lecturer for the introductory biology laboratory courses (BIO 204, 205, 207). This is a Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track Lecturer position. The Lecturer will oversee introductory laboratory courses that service approximately 2000 students per year. Responsibilities include teaching recitation sections, administering assessments, leading weekly preparatory sessions, and supervising instructors and teaching assistants. The Lecturer will coordinate weekly laboratory activities and develop protocols with professional laboratory staff. Strong candidates will possess exceptional organizational and communication skills, familiarity with various laboratory procedures, and experience in curriculum development. Opportunities for teaching and administrative duties during the summer are available with an associated stipend.Lab courses to be supervised:BIO 204 - Fundamentals of Scientific Inquiry in the Biological Sciences IBIO 205 - Fundamentals of Scientific Inquiry in the Biological Sciences IIABIO 207 - Fundamentals of Scientific Inquiry in the Biological Sciences IIBAnticipated Start Date:

Commensurate with experience, within the range of $65,000- $71,600, plus location pay.Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in biological sciences or a closely related discipline by December 2024. Two years of teaching experience at the college level.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching college-level laboratory courses in biological sciences, training teaching assistants, using educational learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace), familiarity with laboratory procedures, and experience with curriculum development. Expertise in areas such as Bioinformatics, Ecology, Evolution, and Genetics is a plus.Application Instructions
