Assists in patient assessment according to standard procedure and needs of patient and their families.2. Administers medications, performs treatment therapies, and operates equipment according to policy and procedure.3. Assists in implementation and evaluation of care plan including long and short-term goals, nursing actions and teaching.4. Documents patient care according to standard procedure. Records and reports observed. symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in patient condition to L.I.P. and or R.N. and assists in analyzing and interpreting patient data.5. Assists physician with treatments, procedures, and special tests as required or directed. Collaborate with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.6. Completes hospital admission and Emergency Room transfer process.7. Maintains a safe environment.8. Complies with UMMHC Infection Control Policies.Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:1. Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.2. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.3. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.5. Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.All responsibilities are essential job functions.
Core Competencies:1. Under the direction of a L.I.P. and or R.N., performs clinical or telephonic triage, identifies patient needs, implements recommended interventions and coordinates patient care2. Cares for patients with peripheral access devices3. Completes Basic Life Support (BLS) education every two yearsIII. Position Qualifications:License/Certification/Education:Required:1. Completion of an accredited school of practical nursing program.2. Current Massachusetts licensure required.3.
Completes Basic Life Support (BLS) education every two years.Experience/Skills:Required:1. Knowledge of basic nursing procedures.2. Strong interpersonal skills are required to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.3. Ability to take direction from a patient or provider, adjusts equipment, observe and describe patient observations.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.IV .
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:Must be able to lift, up to 50 pounds. Work is of heavy demand, standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently.
