Job DescriptionThe Market Chief Medical Officer will be responsible for leading market physicians and APPs in consistently delivering VillageMD’s proactive, team-based care model, focused on driving both improved patient outcomes, as well as an exceptional patient and physician and APP experience. In partnership with operational leadership, this role will be accountable for leading clinical model execution and delivering improved clinical outcomes against plan. To deliver results, the Market Chief Medical Officer will leverage established governance structures and clinical leaders to ensure efficient, consistent execution of the clinical model across all clinics. This role will be expected to continually enhance and expand physician and APP leadership capabilities to develop and support an aligned, mission-focused culture. This role will be 80%+ administrative, enabling a day-in, day-out focus on supporting market physicians and APPs to deliver high quality, patient-centric primary care.
How you can make a difference
Support clinical onboarding processes for new physicians and APPs; ensure deep understanding of VillageMD mission and values
Develop a deep understanding of the local healthcare landscape, including how deployed strategies potentially impact Village Medical’s PCP-focused care model
Partner with operational teams to lead physicians and APPs in the implementation and execution of clinical programs; support market operations leadership and participate in weekly/monthly/quarterly reviews
Establish data-driven, quantifiable objectives and manage strategic and financial plans required to deliver on commitments
Partner with market leadership to build a culture of continuous feedback and improvement; serve as the ultimate owner for physician and APP engagement and experience
Actively support and mentor market clinical leaders, including Practice Medical Directors, APP-Directors, and other functional clinical leaders
Ensure clear accountability for performance results against plan
Monitor execution of performance improvement plans and established action plans
Champion new clinical initiatives and reiterate alignment of innovation to the broader clinical model. Lead with “the why” and support change management
Actively support market growth initiatives, including physician and APP recruitment and acquisition support; educate prospective physicians and APPs on the overall clinical value of the model
Support network development activities, including clinical support for determining high quality partners
Establish strong relationships with payer partners and actively participate in contract negotiations and performance reviews
Skills for success

A keen sense of personal accountability for delivering individual and team results
Experience performing with a sense of urgency, attention to detail, and a commitment to doing what you say you will do

A core belief in a primary care led model and its potential for driving improved clinical outcomes
Comfortable being a hands-on leader with a track record of “rolling up your sleeves” to drive desired outcomes

Experience to drive change
Strong track record of fostering physician, APP, and operational stakeholder engagement
Demonstrated ability driving clinical initiatives via a structured physician and APP governance framework
Ability to lead across a matrixed structure with both market and enterprise clinical leaders
A metric-driven leader with a history of consistently delivering on- or above-plan performance
A hands-on leader with a player-coach mentality that is willing and able to provide “in the weeds” assistance to local teams
Ability to quickly gain credibility and establish the required relationships to influence and generate results; can quickly influence market partners to take action

The base compensation range for this role is
$250,000 - $350,000
, At VillageMD, compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. The selected candidate will be eligible for a valuable company benefits plan, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and access to a 401k plan.
