Oregon Recovers
Executive Director - Oregon Recovers
Oregon Recovers, Portland, Oregon, United States, 97204
Oregon Recovers is searching for its next visionary leader. As we celebrate our 7th birthday, our co-founder and executive director is stepping down, providing the recovery community with the opportunity to imagine a new level of success in pursuing Oregon Recover’s mission of ending Oregon’s addiction crisis.
We seek a passionate, collaborative leader with a strong vision for what the future of addiction recovery should look like in Oregon. The Executive Director will have a deep love for, personal and professional involvement in, and knowledge of Oregon’s recovery community and the needs, challenges, and policy issues facing those suffering from addiction. This individual will have a demonstrated commitment to intersectionality and racial and economic justice, and will have demonstrated experience in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout.
Our next Executive Director will craft strategic goals aligned to policy priorities that the Oregon Recovers board of directors seeks to advance. This person will lead the process to co-create, with the board and staff, a strategic plan and set clear goals for the work over the next several years. Our next leader will leverage innovative thinking to envision the long-term strategy while also navigating the challenges of the ever-emerging political landscape.
The Executive Director will lead and mentor a staff of 8. They will partner with the Deputy Director to divide executive responsibilities and determine future staffing needs. They will partner with our board of directors to engage current donors, attract prospective donors, and re-engage lapsed donors by articulating an inclusive ambitious vision for ending Oregon’s addiction crisis.
Over the last seven years Oregon Recovers has established several signature events and brands: Walk for Recovery, Recovery Community Summit, Advocacy Day, Moms for Addiction Recovery, Oregon Alcohol Policy Alliance and “We DO Recover!” Awards Lunch.
Our next leader will be a highly visible public face for Oregon Recovers, representing the organization and our legislative priorities with our constituents, the media, coalition partners, state legislators and donors. We seek a leader who is comfortable and confident building and strengthening relationships in a variety of settings.
Finally, we acknowledge that Oregon Recovers has traditionally advocated to upend the status quo which often requires speaking truth to power. Often, those in power are uncomfortable with truths—the Oregon Recovers executive director must be capable of withstanding personal attacks and be willing to take unpopular positions that some coalition partners and community members may disagree with.
