South Metro Federal Credit Union (SMFCU) was established in 1993 with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community as its sponsor. SMFCU is deeply proud of its heritage and remains committed to strengthening this vital relationship while serving all its members.SMFCU serves Carver, Hennepin, and Scott counties, with roots firmly planted in Scott County. Our main office is in Prior Lake, MN, and we expanded in 2014 with a second office in the Southbridge development of Shakopee, MN. Currently, SMFCU has 30 employees, serves about 5,000 members, and manages approximately $175 million in assets. Our Wealth Management division serves over 250 clients with $120 million in assets under management.SMFCU seeks a visionary leader who can navigate the complexities of financial management while staying true to our heritage and mission. The CEO will be instrumental in driving growth, fostering community relationships, and maintaining a close connection with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). With a focus on innovation, financial stability, and community engagement, the CEO will ensure that SMFCU remains a trusted and valued financial institution for years to come.The CEO is responsible for advancing SMFCU's mission and balancing the diverse needs of members, employees, and the community. This includes developing and implementing growth strategies to expand membership, driving technological advancements to enhance member experiences, and leading the organization in a way that promotes healthy outcomes for all stakeholders. The CEO also plays a key role in shaping the future of the credit union while engaging in the community, working to strengthen relationships, and aligning efforts with SMSC’s philanthropic initiatives. This role requires strong competencies in strategic planning, financial management, community relations, and staff development. The CEO must inspire and guide the organization toward sustainable growth and continued success.Responsibilities
Lead the organization as a visionary and a strategic thinker.Advance the credit union’s vision and purpose.Ensure the credit union’s financial sustainability through ongoing strategic planning, thinking, and management.Carefully balance financial, member, employee, and community needs by exemplifying the credit union difference.Direct and manage the operations of the credit union and its subsidiaries.Help shape the future of the organization.Ability to work effectively with regulators and examiners and thoughtfully and effectively manage risk.Implement best practices for employee development, succession planning, and mentoring expertise with a proven track record.Design and execute strategic visioning, planning, and budget.Strong goal orientation to design initiatives based upon the strategic plan and to produce results that exceed the credit union’s business plan metrics and ensure the best outcomes for our members.Leverage, develop, and apply appropriate solutions.Continuously align the external brand with the internal culture.Work collaboratively with the board of directors to develop and implement policies and procedures that guide the credit union's operations.Build and maintain member relationships by delivering high-quality products and services that meet members’ needs.Qualifications
A BS or BA degree in a business management-related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred, as well as a demonstration of ongoing education and certifications relevant to a financial institution's leadership.Ongoing professional and self-development.Minimum of five years of proven leadership expertise in financial institutions; credit union management experience preferred.Proven leader of leaders.Competency in organizational and team transformation, cultural evolution, and operational excellence.Working knowledge of board governance and leadership.Experience leading several strategic initiatives and changes to support a compelling vision.A track record of community service and involvement in the community.How to Applyhttps://ddjmyers.com/positions/chief-executive-officer-33/
