The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
Role Description:
Serves as the Site Operations Manager's representative in interpreting and implementing the organization's Aircrew Training Program (ATP) with respect to maintenance. Maintaining and managing flight records, Air Wing Information System (AWIS) entries, and updates of aviation references and publications.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs duties as a Maintenance Examiner and conducts training and evaluations of fixed wing Maintenance Pilots (MP) and Maintenance Examiners (MEs) at deployed locations, including maintenance standardization program oversight.
Performs operational checks, routine maintenance, and maintenance test flights to ensure the airworthiness of the fleet.
Required to hold full mission qualification in the aircraft type.
Plans flight assignments and obtains information regarding the purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures, and special instructions.
Prepares or supervises the preparation of flight plans, considering factors such as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise control data, airport facilities, and navigational aids.
Ensures that required airworthiness inspections have been accomplished and any previous discrepancies have been corrected or properly deferred in accordance with the MEL for that aircraft.
Supervises or accomplishes the aircraft preflight inspection and preparation.
Ensures proper loading, distributing, and security of cargo.
Determines that aircraft weight and balance is within prescribed limits, prepares Aircraft Flight Maintenance Log, Load Manifest, and Discrepancy Record form, and ensures delivery of each document to the Operation Support Manager for filing after each flight assignment.
Ensures survival equipment and any special emergency equipment are aboard when required.
Retains final responsibility for logging aircraft flight time and filing and closing flight plans and preparation of flight and duty time records.
Ensures proper reporting of mechanical irregularities and discrepancies, and accurate recording of maintenance by maintenance personnel.
Responsible for safety and assuring ramp security is maintained while passengers are boarded or disembarked.
Ensures security assessments are made prior to each flight.
Understands rules of engagement (ROE).
Maintains adequate rest and proper dress.
Delegates functions to other personnel but retains overall responsibility.
Position requires a U.S. Security Clearance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate Airplane MEL.
FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
Current FAA Class II Medical certificate.
Documented civil or military maintenance test pilot course completion.
Successful completion of FAA Type Rating Course in the selected type required before assignment.
1,500 total fixed wing flight hours including 500 hours of turbine engine time and 250 hours MEL pilot in command.
100 hours maintenance pilot time.
Unrestricted type rating.
Spanish Level L-2, R-2 required in LATAM Programs.
Preferred:
Prior pilot US Military Maintenance Pilot qualified and/or support on the DoS program.
Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating from the FAA.
OCONUS:
Ability to pass physical screening.
Passport with 18 months remaining.
Willing to relocate.
