(ATG) is the research division of the company. ATG’s mission is to look ahead, deliver insights, and innovate technological solutions that will fuel Dolby’s continued growth. Our researchers have a broad range of expertise related to computer science and electrical engineering, such as AI/ML, algorithms, digital signal processing, audio engineering, image processing, computer vision, data science & analytics, distributed systems, cloud, edge & mobile computing, computer networking, and IoT. SUMMARY Join the Big Idea Innovation team within the Advanced Technology Group organization (ATG) and immerse yourself in the exciting world of emerging opportunities and innovation. As a key player in disrupting norms, challenging conventional practices, and fostering fresh perspectives, you'll be part of a team that sparks transformative conversations within Dolby. The Team: The ATG's Big Idea Innovation team is on a mission to unearth high-potential opportunities that drive Dolby's innovation forward. We dive into technology and market trends, consumer behaviors, and industry innovations to connect the dots between market data, research programs, and product opportunities. We're searching for an intern with a passion for evaluating and incubating innovative ideas from a market potential perspective. Your Role:

As an intern with us, you'll work closely with research teams to assess and develop ideas with a large market opportunity and strong industry fit and ideate about go-to-market strategies. To be effective in this role you need an ongoing interest in technology, industry, and market trends. We seek a resourceful and organized hard worker who is an independent thinker but can collaborate and communicate well with people across the organization. Responsibilities: Collaborate with diverse teams, presenting your insights and recommendations to drive innovation across Dolby. Conduct market analysis to determine the total addressable market (TAM) for candidate Big Ideas. Estimate the potential costs associated with scaling and implementing the concept in the market vs. potential expected returns. Perform deeper dives and competitive analysis in different market sectors (e.g., Wellness, Creator Economy, Generative AI, etc). Build out and automate important industry data sets & trackers (market, device, services, user behaviors) to stay on top of key trends, economic control points, supply chain and changing generational habits. Present your analysis, insights and recommendations to relevant ATG teams and business group partners within Dolby. Work with the research interns and their mentors to identify potential ideas that can seed big idea innovation. Qualifications: Passion for technology Focused on user centric experiences Growth mindset and excited to incorporate lots of perspectives/data points Interest and understanding of product and competitive landscape analysis Knowledge of strategic analysis tools and methods (e.g. design thinking, Porter’s 5 Forces, Eisenhower Matrix, Corporate Entrepreneurship) Analyze market data to understand economic control points and model addressable market Demonstrated ability to reduce large datasets into well designed data graphics (Examples of data modeling, forecasting and analytics creation) Quickly learn and build-up sufficient knowledge in order to inform technology strategy Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; excellent team player Desired Background: 3-5 years of working in the tech industry with a passion for innovation, technology, and product-market fit; or entrepreneurial ventures/venture capital experience. Experience incubating new technologies and/or business opportunities into new markets against strong value propositions, ideally including opportunity evaluation, prototyping, and stakeholder engagement. Include any examples of entrepreneurial classes, programs, or thesis projects that are related to the innovation and market understanding/validation analysis. Ability to synthesize diverse sets of information and frame coherent rationales for decision-making. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams, both functionally and geographically. Experience with various business/revenue models (outside of licensing) and can demonstrate creative thinking around new monetization strategies. Nice to have but not required: proficient with business analytics and visualization tools, e.g. Tableau, SiSense, or market analysis platforms, e.g. CB Insights, Statista, Pitch Book We recognize that applying to internships can be a daunting process, especially if you have not had any previous internships, or if this is a new field of interest to you. ELIGIBILITY Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, data analytics technical, or a related field; recent grads who are within 6 months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time Monday – Friday for 3 months between May/June 2025 – December 2025. Start dates for the internship are as follows: (*note* this date is not flexible) Monday, May 19, 2025 The San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this internship position is $55/hr and can vary if outside of this location. Our hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
