Reporting to and supporting the SVP and Chief Medical Officer for Caremark, the Executive Director, Business Operations and Strategy will work directly with the SVP/CMO and the Caremark Medical Affairs leadership team to formulate and drive priority and strategic initiatives. This role will be vital in achieving key organizational objectives, solving management and business problems, identifying and seizing new opportunities, enhancing thought leadership, and implementing change. The role will establish deep cross-functional relationships across the enterprise to ensure solutions and initiatives are effectively designed and implemented, with a focus on measurable outcomes/impact.The Executive Director, Business Operations and Strategy works with the Caremark Medical Affairs leadership team to identify the long-term vision and then map out the necessary operations and structures to get there. An area of primary accountability will be developing and implementing the Caremark Medical Affairs strategic roadmap.This position works with elevated visibility and accountability to senior leadership across functional areas and must achieve outcomes in this context, with scrutiny on both financial and non-financial business value. Reaching out across the organization and bringing the right subject matter experts together, this role serves as a critical integrator of our work and activities. This Executive Director occasionally serves as proxy for the SVP and Chief Medical Officer in internal and external meetings with key stakeholders.Moderate travel is expected for this position.Primary Responsibilities include:Partner with the Caremark Medical Affairs leadership team to develop and execute both long and short-term strategic plans.Stimulate strategic thinking and facilitate the development and communication of strategic plans in alignment with enterprise and business unit priorities.Lead research associated with business issues and plan formulation, validate business cases, and monitor and report on performance relative to plans.Coordinate and drive planning, budgeting, executing, implementing, and measuring of cross-enterprise initiatives, while developing trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and cross functional team members.Ensure proper linkage of Caremark Medical Affairs and enterprise priorities and plans.Lead the analysis and integration of relevant quantitative and qualitative data and apply the findings to positively impact Caremark Medical Affairs strategies and share key insights and actions based on relevant data and metrics.Ensure effectiveness of the Caremark Medical Affairs team operations by analyzing, reporting, and performing diagnostic assessments to identify and assess complex problems and deliver sustainable solutions.Challenge partners to think differently regarding Caremark Medical Affairs operational issues and act as a thought partner and model creative problem-solving to impact business decisions and ensure proper change management.Serve on appropriate Caremark Medical Affairs related task forces, standing committees and projects, providing the point of view of various Medical Affairs team functions.Develop and deliver executive proposals, presentations, and other materials geared towards senior leadership, with accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality a must.Engage effectively with key clients and strategic partners, and proactively prepare senior leaders for these engagements.Ensure consistent, efficient, and cost-effective processes, procedures, and appropriate accountability.Effectively manage organization resources (e.g. staff, budget).Integrate proactively into the Caremark Medical Affairs organization and assess issues which affect the team’s operating efficiencies and business value.Manage relationships with leaders, executives, and senior executives across the business segments and teams, with a high degree of political and organizational intelligence.Ability to build organizational bridges and confidence when collaborating and seeking agreement with senior executives is essential.Support and/or lead monthly staff meetings, Sr Leader meetings, town-halls and other meetings as requested by setting the agenda, coordinating materials/speakers, ensuring presentations are ready, leading sessions and ensuring follow-up on action items.Support budget management for all of Caremark Medical Affairs FTE budget line items (payroll, travel, etc.)- approx. 69M in budget responsibilities.Required Qualifications:10+ years of business leadership, chief of staff experience or equivalent experience in another similar field.Ability to work Hybrid Model (in office Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday).Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.Preferred Qualifications:Multi-functional strategic plan development, oversight, and execution.Multi-functional budget development, oversight, and reporting.Demonstrated written and verbal communications expertise.Significant enterprise-wide program and project management experience.Prior leadership experience.PBM/PSS experience.Education:Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Required.Pay Range:The typical pay range for this role is: $131,500.00 - $303,200.00.This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
