Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.Salary Range:$221,000 - $375,700*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.What Your Job Will Be Like:The Director for Asset Security and WMD Response reports to the Associate Lab Director for Global Security and leads Sandia's Nuclear Counterterrorism and Incident Response program and Sandia's sustainment work for the NNSA Secure Transportation mission. Other work involves specialized security projects at the intersection of the nuclear weapons and transportation programs using a systems-of-systems approach. The Director also leads a Center of approximately 300 staff in the execution of these programs with many matrixed staff partners from across the laboratory.Duties and Responsibilities:Set the strategic vision for assigned mission areas and implement plans to achieve.Maintain key customer relationships with transparency, early issue identification, solutions, and strategy.Serve on assigned laboratory level governance and strategy boards.Develop partnerships to amplify mission execution.Plan for and strengthen the health of core capabilities.Provide oversight, assurance, execution, and coordination of assigned programs.Provide expertise, evaluation of, and advice for other programs at Sandia.Match Sandia capabilities to customer and sponsor needs and task appropriate line organizations to provide resources while organizing adequate support for those resources.Manage and develop direct employees and perform other managerial responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Lead the conduct of activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established ES&H requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment.Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.Qualifications We Require:Advanced degree in engineering, science, or related discipline.10 years of progressive leadership experience in the nuclear security enterprise to include managing people and experimental operations.5+ years progressive experience interacting with design laboratories, Government representatives, internal and external customers, and suppliers at all levels to negotiate, plan and deliver on customer requirements.An active DOE Q level clearance is required to start.Ability to obtain and maintain an SCI clearance.Qualifications We Desire:Change agent for development of a commitment/performance driven proactive culture.Organizational savvy and the ability to develop and foster a common vision across functional boundaries.Integrative thinker with demonstrated ability to solve complex, multi-faceted problems with due consideration for business and strategic consequences.Demonstrated skill to establish and maintain strong and effective customer relations, and to anticipate change and adjust promptly and effectively.Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, public speaking) are required.10+ years experience from two or more of the specific mission areas described in the summary above.10+ years leading Programs for a DHS/DOE/NNSA/DoD customer.5 years' experience developing opportunities with other Federal customers.Extensive relationships within the Nuclear Security Enterprise.Extensive managerial experience related to program management.Demonstrated positive impact of leadership ability, including direct and influence management skills.Ability to thrive in a dynamic and lean environment and deal creatively with resource constraint issues and uncertainty.Strong technical acumen in nuclear weapons with history of effective communication with a broad range of technical and nontechnical audiences.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities, mediate conflict, and apply leadership concepts and techniques.Experience with hazardous operations, specifically explosives test range management.Experience with DOE nuclear physical security requirements and operations.About Our Team:6600 ASSET SECURITY & WMD RESPONSE: We assure protection of critical assets and the public against national and global security risks by developing superior technologies, optimized for operator performance.About Sandia:Sandia National Laboratories is the nation's premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation, with teams of specialists focused on cutting-edge work in a broad array of areas.Security Clearance:Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
