About the role
Vice President, Corporate Private Placements
Corebridge Institutional Investments’ Private Credit Group (“PCG”) invests on behalf of Corebridge's Life & Retirement companies and an external client. PCG manages a $27 billion portfolio across several classes, including Corporate Privates (“CP”), Infrastructure, Asset Backed Securities (“ABS”), and Leveraged Capital (high yield and mezzanine securities). The investment grade investments are typically long-term, fixed rate debt securities issued by public or private companies outside of the public bond market, in a range of industries and geographies. The below investment grade investments are typically short-term floating rate loans issued by private companies across a range of industries and geographies.
This role is a leadership position on the Corporate Privates team within the Private Credit Group of Corebridge Institutional Investments. The Corporate Privates team manages $10 billion invested in 200 investment grade quality credits across the globe. This position reports to the Group Head of Corporate Privates within Corebridge Institutional Investments’ Private Credit Group and will work closely with other CP team members, as well as external placement agents, lawyers, issuers and financial advisors.
Responsibilities
Responsible for an assigned portfolio and for leading deal teams and mentoring and training analysts with varying levels of credit underwriting experience.
Portfolio management responsibility for a portion of the $10 billion Corporate Privates portfolio, which requires an experienced portfolio manager with a proven ability to evaluate and price credit risk and negotiate legal documentation across numerous structures, asset classes, industries, economic cycles, regulatory regimes, and geographies.
Demonstrate discipline in credit, structure and pricing and exercise sound judgment in guiding the Corporate Private Teams' proposals to PPG Credit Committee.
The Vice President will collaborate with other Private Credit asset classes, Workouts and throughout Corebridge and support a team approach in transaction management.
Capable of underwriting challenging credits offered in the traditional Private Placement market. He or she manages the entire deal process and portfolio with the objective of providing appropriate levels of protection and return for the risk taken, in addition to meeting the dynamic needs of investors and making appropriate relative value decisions, all while following sound risk management and compliance protocols.
Coordinate and communicate with in-house and external counsel to satisfactorily negotiate and document amendments and new transactions.
Ensure CP Team actively manages assigned portfolio investments through timely completion of credit monitoring, ratings updates, monthly pricing and review of financial statements and covenant compliance, amendment processing and secondary buy/sell decisions.
With coaching and mentoring responsibilities, and potential supervisory responsibilities, the individual will lead deal teams with an awareness of each member's career goals and organize individual assignments to challenge, develop and reward each team member.
Identify and encourage important contributions and leadership roles played by team members at all levels of PCG and Corebridge.
Maintain relationships with issuers, placement agents, lawyers and debt advisors and other investors, as well as work with internal constituents, to close and fund transactions.
The Vice President will be a subject matter expert and represent Corebridge at industry events, speak at conferences, lead corporate-level initiatives, and assist in recruiting talent.
Ensure CP team actively provides credit expertise assistance to other Corebridge Investments businesses, for example, Commercial Mortgage Lending and Structured Corporates on sector and credit views.
Promote a culture of awareness and ownership of: Corebridge policies and procedures, Ethical behaviors and practices, Risks in day-to-day responsibilities, Regulatory requirements related to your business or function.
What we are looking for
10+ years of experience in debt capital markets, preferably 8+ in private placement market.
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university is required; MBA, and/or CFA preferred.
Excellent credit analysis, oral and written communication skills.
Track record of successfully achieving goals, leading deal teams and managing a value-added private credit portfolio.
Proficiency in all aspects of the private placement transaction process.
Proven leadership qualities and accomplishments, combined with positive attitude and collaborative work-style.
Demonstrated high ethical standards, good judgment and flexibility in achieving goals.
