In this role, you will use your fundraising operations skills and management experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Associate Director plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by managing and optimizing development and advancement operations. This position focuses on team leadership and supervision of gift processing, database management, and development operational support to assist fundraising efforts effectively. You will collaborate within the Advancement team to recommend and implement operational efficiencies and best practices, serving as a business partner to the Finance team on all fundraising revenue management.Responsibilities:Team Leadership and Development:Lead and inspire a team of advancement services professionals, including a Senior Database Associate and a Donor Database Associate.Provide oversight, guidance, and continuous training on database and gift processing procedures.Mentor and provide professional development opportunities to team members.Create and foster a collaborative team culture that promotes innovation and continuous improvement.Database and Gift Management:Maintain a robust and accurate Raiser’s Edge donor database, supervising all related functions.Complete complex data queries, reports, exports, mergers, and system upgrades.Collaborate with Marketing staff to manage online marketing databases.Coordinate data transfer to and from external/internal databases.Manage data security and access to Raiser’s Edge.Communicate and troubleshoot Raiser’s Edge issues.Provide leadership on data hygiene processes and data management.Provide training and support during high volume times.Development Operations Management:Coordinate with the Finance department for monthly fundraising reporting and analytics.Support direct mail and e-appeal efforts with the Marketing and Development teams.Manage event data and on-site registration for fundraising events.Oversee daily mail donations process.Collaborate with the Development team for donor stewardship and cultivation.Maintain acknowledgment letter templates and donor stewardship templates.Manage department budget, tracking expenses and allocations.Provide back-up support for Prospect Researcher when necessary.Strategic Planning and Support:Assist in creating and implementing analytical financial reports.Synthesize donation and engagement data for insights on fundraising trends.Support the Sr. Director of Advancement Services in strategic goals and operational plans.Stay informed on the latest trends and best practices in nonprofit development operations.Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 5+ years of relevant experience.7+ years of operational management of fundraising databases.Experience managing high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.Expertise in fundraising operations and data governance policies.Understanding of accounting practices and managing a department budget.Advanced communication and project management skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.Experience with project management tools like SmartSheet or Asana.Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
