Our team is responsible for developing and supporting the investment data platform to provide streamlined and governed access to trusted data. The team handles integration to third-party vendors and/or internal data stores as needed so that the back-end implementation is not exposed to consumers. Technologies used by the team include Snowflake, DBT, AWS, Kubernetes.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain an investment data platform running on Snowflake data cloudEnable cloud modernization at scale by developing, releasing, and maintaining repeatable patternsApply engineering best practices to analyze, design, develop, deploy and support software solutions.Recommends efficiencies to current established development and continuous integration practices.Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues that may arise during the development and deployment of software projects.Conducts thorough code evaluation to ensure compliance with established coding standards and best practicesHas an evolving understanding of system-wide architectural challenges.Contributes to technical discussions and decision-making processes within the team.May take on a mentoring role and provide guidance and support to junior technical talent.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent degree or experience2-4 years of experience working with modern engineering tools, languages and practices2-4 years of professional software engineering, debugging, analysis, and software documentation experienceStrong understanding of engineering principles, design and best practices.Intermediate proficiency in one or more web development languages (Java, JavaScript, Python, React)Basic understanding of SQLIntermediate understanding of public cloud and associated technologies (AWS, Docker, K8s, Containerization).Intermediate understanding of data quality and data conceptsBasic understanding of data integration patterns and toolingClearly articulate design choicesEvolving analytical and critical thinking skills.Experience with Agile methodologies/DevOps environmentSelf-motivated and able to independently execute a planPreferred QualificationsProduction experience with Snowflake and DBT or other cloud data technologiesProduction experience or familiarity with AWS serverless patterns, CI/CD using GitLab, K8s, and deployment using terraform conceptsUnderstanding of investment management business domain is a plusCompensation Range:Pay Range - Start: $90,930.00Pay Range - End: $168,870.00Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure.
