Sr. Director, Preclinical Research

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Provide leadership and guidance to the drug discovery teams at PepGen to develop first-in-class and best-in-class EDO therapies for neuromuscular diseases. Design and implement PepGen's research strategy. Work closely with leaders across the company to plan and execute the research and development strategy, evaluate new target opportunities, and initiate additional pipeline programs. Manage a portfolio of targets, oversee strategic execution of drug discovery research and preclinical activities to enable robust, timely, and compliant Investigational New Drug (IND) submissions with clear development paths. Evaluate in-/out-licensing opportunities. Manage and guide preclinical data communication including publications, conferences, and other corporate material. Engage with external partners, including clinical and academic collaborators and contracts research organizations (CROs). Lead, develop, and retain a high-performance team focused on developing a new class of therapeutics, including providing development opportunities and mentoring. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, discovery, and cutting-edge research culture focused on scientific excellence, open communication, and continual improvement. Supervise Biochemists and Biophysicists.

Experience and Education include, but are not limited to:PhD in Biology, Pharmacology, or Toxicology10 Years (120 months) of experience in a drug discovery setting (biotech or large pharma) with industry or laboratory experience which includes managing a team of scientists; study design, execution and data analysis; Investigational New Drug (IND) candidate selection and study. Of which 5 years of experience working with rare diseases and 5 years of experience working with oligonucleotides, peptides, and nucleic acids. All qualifying experience may be gained concurrently.
