POSITION SUMMARY

This position will lead all interconnection efforts for the company. This includes the full development cycle for generator interconnections, load interconnections, and the build-out and leadership of the interconnection / engineering department as the company rapidly scales.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead the preparation of generation and load interconnection requests and manage the process through GIA execution, including management of external consultants.Review all interconnection related reports and studies, evaluate effects on projects and provide insights to management (including Feasibility, System Impact Studies, Facilities Studies, short-circuit duty, stability studies and similar).Lead the negotiation, execution, and management of Generation Interconnection Agreements and Engineering Design and Procurement agreements.Evaluate the feasibility of new interconnections, prepare and manage 3rd party consultants in preparing and reviewing injection analysis of proposed POIs, and conducting in person site visits and producing substation evaluation reports.Lead the preparation of power flow and stability models, technical specifications, single line diagrams, including the development of conceptual designs for interconnection facilities and estimated costs.Lead interconnection request meetings, establish and maintain relationships with RTO/ISO technical experts.Support development activities in multiple regions (NYISO, ERCOT, ISONE, SPP, WECC) by providing grid and transmission planning, congestion evaluation, and reviewing utility and ISO expansion plans.Identify new project opportunities influenced by changes in load and generation technology and their impact on the grid.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide support for special projects and other duties as assigned.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.2+ years of experience with substation design, substation construction and closeout activities, including punch list creation, walk-downs, and as-built records.3+ years of experience working on Generator Interconnection Procedures and related activities throughout the U.S., with familiarity in distribution and transmission systems and their operations.Proficient in preparation of interconnection request packages for submission, with a comprehensive understanding of electrical diagrams and preliminary site plansCapable of analyzing power flow and System Impact Studies (SIS) for interconnecting utility scale solar, wind, and storage generating facilities.Experienced using power flow software such as PSS/E/PSLFExperience with ArcGIS (or similar)Extremely high attention to detail, analytical problem-solving skills, and ability to produce error-free work.Superior written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey technical ideas and complex information to both expert and non-expert audiences (experience presenting findings to senior management a plus).PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
