Job Description and DutiesThe CalSTRS Pension Solution Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Information Technology Specialist III in the Technology Services Branch on the Pension Solution Technical Team.

CalSTRS is implementing a new pension administration system to support the California teachers and their families. We are building up a diverse team to support the ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and operations of a complex system based on Microsoft’s technology stack using C#/.NET and SQL Server. We also support a variety of other technical initiatives including a Python-based automated test suite using a SQL Server backend, Robot Framework, and a Selenium library. We are seeking applicants that have demonstrated software development skills that can work on a diverse and growing team in support of a large web application with a database consisting of 2 billion rows of data in about 500 tables representing over 100 years of financial data. Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, Technical/Test Manager, the Information Technology Specialist III serves as a Senior Developer with responsibility for CalSTRS technical activities related to development, preparation, and execution of the CalSTRS automated technical tests, leading in the development of learning maintenance and operations of the new system, and other related technical activities for the Pension Solution Project. The incumbent will act as a senior software developer, leading and working on complex problems, and will independently perform and/or guide the complex studies and activities related to CalSTRS technical aspects of the Pension Solution project.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

Seeking an experienced software programmer, preferably with web-application test development and execution skills; experience with Python and/or Robot Framework is a plus.

Must have experience developing and maintaining SQL scripts with preferred experience using T-SQL.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Information Technology or related area.

Strong communication skills.

Experience working on a pension administration system or other financial application.

Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.

Prefer to have demonstrated experience developing and executing technical testing including automation, regression, and performance testing.

Prefer to have demonstrated experience as a senior or lead developer on a technical team.

Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.

Telework Information:

We offer a hybrid approach including in-office and remote work solutions with staff working on-site at our Headquarters in West Sacramento 2 days per week.
