Brief Description of Duties

The University of the District of Columbia is a public land grant institution of higher learning dedicated to providing quality, career-focused undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to launch, enhance, or change careers. The Department of Nursing, Allied Health, Life and Physical Science at the University of the District of Columbia Community College invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the Respiratory Therapy Program at this HBCU in the Nation’s capital. Incumbents must teach all assigned classes and hours as determined by semester course schedule; incumbents will be required to prepare and deliver relevant curriculum to students in the respiratory therapy program using a variety of teaching methods to include, but not limited to, lecture, class discussion, demonstration labs/clinical, and projects.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeaches assigned courses as specified in respiratory therapy, including the lectures associated with clinical experiencesCollaborates with the Program Director and DCE to assure adequacy of laboratory supplies and equipmentAdvises students and evaluates evidenced-based student learning outcomesParticipates in department, college, and university committeesAssesses program effectiveness and assists in the curriculum developmentSubmits additional assignments as per Program DirectorMaintains close interactions among all students enrolled in the programConducts a minimum of five office hours per week using DataArc to record student's competencies and participation in lab/clinicalAdheres to college and program policies and proceduresParticipates fully in curriculum development and revisionRenders textbook and other instructional material recommendationsMinimum Job RequirementsBachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) from an accredited college/university;Applicant must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist who is licensed by the District of Columbia, or eligibleMinimum of two years clinical experienceTwo years of academic or clinical teaching experienceInformation to Applicant

Condition of Employment:

Temporary employment may be ended at any time with or without cause.

Collective Bargaining Unit:

Dependent upon certain criteria, this position may be eligible for representation and require payment of union fees through direct payroll deduction.

Employment Benefits:

Due to the temporary nature of this appointment, this position is ineligible for benefits.
