Transplant Infectious Diseases Specialist

for a Clinical/Academic position joining a team of physicians focused on the care of immunocompromised patients serving Long Island, NY.This exciting position includes the opportunity to lead a Transplant Infectious Diseases Stewardship program in conjunction with Transplant Infectious Diseases pharmacists. Participation and productivity in research are desired as well given the opportunity to develop a Clinical Research and mentorship program focused on solid organ transplantation research at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research.As part of a large multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive care to solid organ transplant candidates and heart, lung, liver, and kidney transplant recipients, as well as patients with ventricular assist devices and hematological malignancies requiring stem cell transplantation. Our team is committed to the training and education of future providers and leaders in the field of infectious diseases. Our faculty is known for our teaching excellence amongst medical students, residents and fellows, and our staff holds leadership positions in local, regional, and national organizations.With the inception of the Transplant Institute at Northwell Health led by Dr. Nabil Dagher, we have unified our efforts to lead multi-organ transplantation in New York. The collaboration between Dr. Dagher's team and Dr. Esther Benamu, Director of Transplant Infectious Disease at Northwell Health, ushers in a new era in transplantation, where the multidisciplinary approach underscores the importance of comprehensive, patient-centered care. Northwell Health has the fastest growing liver transplant program in the country and the fastest growing multi-organ transplant program in the NY Metro Area.Training/Licensure requirements:Medical Degree from an Accredited UniversityBoard Certified in Infectious DiseasesNew York State Medical LicenseTransplant Infectious Diseases training and clinical experience in a transplant program.The successful candidate can expect to:Join a rapidly growing multi-organ transplant program with 241 transplants in 2022 and more than 363 in 2023 and projected to perform over 400 transplants in 2024.Have inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities focused on TID.Participate in transplant selection meetings, antibiotic stewardship, infection control and quality improvement activities.Participate in the creation, updating and implementation of ID related policies and guidelines focused on transplanted and immunocompromised patients.Have an academic appointment with the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University and participate in teaching house staff, residents, and fellows.Have collaborative research opportunities at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research.Northwell Health is New York State's largest health care provider and private employer, with 21 hospitals, over 850 outpatient facilities and more than 16,600 affiliated physicians.
