to provide strategic direction and be involved in pursuit efforts and leadership in identification, development and delivery of Transit and Rail projects, building and fostering strong client and stakeholder relationships with an overall focus on growth and expanding our market leadership.The candidate must have established relationships with Transit Agencies, State Departments of Transportation, regional and local transportation agencies and federal partner agencies, as well as with transportation industry and professional organizations (such as APTA, AREMA, WTS, and TRB).The successful

will demonstrate capabilities in:Building and sustaining exceptional Client RelationshipsProviding best-in-class executive Subject Matter ExpertiseManaging complex Project DeliveryExecuting Winning Pursuits toward a sustained pipelineA key part of this role is for the National Transportation Strategic Advisor to collaborate with WSP’s regional and local leadership to implement client engagement and business development strategies that are focused on growing our presence and ability to deliver strategic and technical solutions for our transit and rail business line.Business Development / Strategic LeadershipRepresent WSP at regional and national meetings and on appropriate committees and working groups, providing sponsorship support and thought leadershipPositioning the company as an industry leader in the Transit and Rail practice areaVisiting clientsAct as a key contributor and business advisor to the National Transit and Rail teamStrategic planning assistance in business development and client engagementSupporting high-profile Transit and Rail mega-programs with organizational development, team building, program delivery strategy, and emergent situationsParticipating on projects when appropriate in an advisory or strategic capacity, and serving on occasion as principal-in-charge or project lead when client relationships and areas of interest alignProviding guidance, leadership and support to ad hoc teams within the companyProviding a client’s perspective and industry context and advice with respect to business plans and strategically significant pursuitsMentoring other professionals within the companyAssist in attracting high-quality talent to the companyLeadershipShow enthusiastic and inspiring commitment to the company and the requirements of the roleManage and lead through othersIncludes the view of others in decisions, comfortable with group decision-makingAdjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditionsAble to cope effectively with complexity and changeExpects personal performance and team performance to be nothing short of the bestCommunicate ideas clearly across multi-regional teamsRequired Qualifications:The position requires BA/BS degree in Engineering, Planning, Architecture, Business, or equivalent experienceProven track record of successfully growing a program, team or initiative in transportation15+ years of transportation consulting/engineering experienceEvidence of leadership qualities and ability to network with clients and others in the fieldExcellent written and verbal communication skills to present both technical and policy results and recommendationsActive engagement in relevant industry organizationsOrganized, self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spiritExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policyOccasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.Preferred Qualifications20 years of transportation consulting/engineering experience, including at least five years of successful experience in delivery of technical workAbout WSP USAWSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services firms.
