Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Psychiatry provides initial evaluations of residents with mental or emotional problems and offers counseling and psychotherapy to clients in distress.Functions as an effective member of the mental health team.Oversees Psychiatric care of all residents.Reviews medical concerns/history for potential residents for medical clearance at the request of Admissions.Ensures that Psychiatric Evaluations are performed on each resident within 48 hours of admission.Attends to residents requiring psychiatric assistance while in treatment.Facilitates Staff Trainings on pertinent Psychiatric issues and standards.Attends weekly Treatment Team Meetings.Liaison with staff Medical Director, Clinical Director, and other necessary treatment team members.Assists Newport Academy Outreach Team in forging relationships with hospitals.Works in collaboration with staff APRN.Documents patient encounters through weekly progress notes and EMR.Manages a caseload and works in conjunction with the rest of the psychiatry team.Coordinates psychology services with direct care and clinical staff as indicated.Works collaboratively with the Psychiatry team regarding shared cases.Assists with patient admissions including initial evaluations and assessments.Provides collateral contact to patient families and outpatient providers.Maintains excellent communication with other clinical team members.Completes discharge recommendation assessments.Administrative duties including staff schedules.Full-time duties with some on-call responsibilities.QualificationsDoctorate in Medicine (MD).Board Certified in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry.Licensed in the State.Experience with adolescent psychiatry preferred.Experience in a residential setting preferred.Medical Director/Physician leadership experience preferred.Newport Healthcare is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to ensuring equal employment opportunity and providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities.
