Job Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic

Level 1 Firewall Administrator

to join our IT security team. This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience as a

Systems Administrator

and is looking to grow their career in network and security management. As a Firewall Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the security of our network by managing firewall systems, monitoring for potential threats, and implementing best practices for cybersecurity.

Responsibilities:

Firewall Configuration and Management:

Design, implement, and manage firewall solutions to safeguard the organization's network infrastructure. Conduct regular firewall rule reviews, optimizations, and updates to ensure maximum efficiency and security.

Incident Response and Troubleshooting:

Provide level 2 support for firewall-related incidents and security events. Collaborate with the incident response team to analyze and mitigate security incidents.

Security Audits and Compliance:

Conduct regular security audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal security policies. Assist in the preparation of documentation for compliance assessments and regulatory audits.

Network Monitoring and Analysis:

Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify and address security threats. Perform in-depth analysis of network traffic and logs to detect and respond to potential security issues.

Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity experts. Share knowledge and best practices with team members to enhance overall cybersecurity awareness.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for firewall configurations, policies, and procedures. Create and update incident response plans and playbooks.

Training and Development:

Stay informed about the latest trends and developments in firewall technology and Zero Trust security. Provide training to junior team members and other relevant staff on firewall and Zero Trust concepts.

Requirements:

1-2 years of experience as a Systems Administrator, with exposure to servers, Active Directory and network security concepts.

1-2 years of experience with firewall management and implementation.

Basic knowledge of firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet) and security practices.

Understanding of network protocols, routing, and switching.

Familiarity with VPNs, NAT, IPsec, and access control systems.

Experience with Windows and/or Linux server administration.

Problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot network and security issues.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or equivalent.

Experience with firewall management tools.

Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).

Certifications such as Fortinet, Watchguard, Meraki, Ubiquity, CCNA, CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.
