This pivotal role involves leading test automation, Observability, Cloud and AI, Planning, and Software Development Lifecycle standards for the Small Business + Financial Services Engineering organization. This role will be central to improving overall productivity and operational excellence across this engineering organization and will have an opportunity to interface and influence numerous cross functional teams within other parts of the PayPal Engineering organization to improve enterprise wide processes and programs.Job Description:Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Strategy:
Lead a global team of engineers, setting a clear vision and strategy for the Financial Services and P2P Payments engineering teams. Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
Engineering Excellence:
Oversee all aspects of engineering, ensuring the delivery of highly reliable, scalable, and secure financial products. Drive technical excellence, advocating for best practices in software development and architecture.
Collaboration and Partnership:
Work closely with business, product, and design teams to align engineering initiatives with company goals. Be a key player in strategic decision-making, ensuring technical systems meet the evolving demands of our customers and stay ahead of the competition.
Operational and Financial Oversight:
Ensure the organizational, execution, and financial health of the engineering teams. Manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively, delivering projects on schedule and within cost constraints.
Works backwards from the Customer:
Always frames solutions in terms of solving specific customer needs. Understands the market and especially what “good looks like” across existing solutions in the market.
Qualifications:Proven experience in senior leadership roles within software engineering, preferably in the FinTech sector.
Strong technical background in test automation and E2E test practices.
Excellent strategic thinking, with the ability to lead and inspire teams across global locations.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business, product, and design.
Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and resources for large engineering teams.
Outstanding communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
