Autonomous vehicles have some of the largest, most complex software ever shipped in a safety-critical environment. Solving that problem is one of the most exciting technical challenges of our lifetime.As a Senior Systems Triage Engineer on our System Behavior Analysis Autonomous team, you will play a critical role in the development of Zoox's autonomous platform, working with a broad set of engineering teams across Zoox. You will help triage and root cause the issues identified during testing and real-world operations. You will also produce reports and insights that inform leadership on the overall quality and influence engineering decisions. Your ability to distill complex systems and root cause issues will be crucial to producing a safe and stable vehicle platform.In this role, you will:
Utilize data analytics to analyze and diagnose a wide range of system faults and errors related to hardware, software, and sensor data from both on-road testing and system simulation runs.Effectively categorize and prioritize issues based on severity, urgency, and potential impact on safety and performance by working collaboratively with cross-functional teams (engineering, software, testing) and offshore teams.Identify trends in system failures and propose preventative measures to improve overall system safety and robustness by producing clear and concise reports of system issues, troubleshooting steps, and root cause analysis.Be hands-on, lead by example, and develop tools and workflows to drive improvements for both quality and quantity aspects of the triage.Coach and mentor junior members of the team, and help them to grow in their career journey.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM-related fieldMinimum of 8 years of experience in systems troubleshooting and diagnostics, preferably in the automotive or embedded systems industryExperience with Git, Agile methodologies, and scripting/programming languages (preferably Python)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to root cause analysisA passion for autonomous vehicle technology and safety is essentialBonus Qualifications:
Experience in a Quality Assurance or Triage role for Autonomous DrivingExperience with Log Management, Analytics, or Simulation toolsProject Management experience on programs involving cross-functional partners and offshore teamsCompensation:There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $160,000 to $200,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.
