Medica’s Director of Self-Funded & Stop Loss Products is a leader in driving product strategy, innovation, cross functional collaboration, and subsequent implementation to position Medica’s self-insured employer group health plan products for success with brokers and employers. This leader is responsible for developing Medica’s health plan product portfolio, leveraging internal and external capabilities to establish a value story which differentiates Medica from its competitors.
Key Accountabilities:
Develops short- and long-term product roadmaps of key initiatives which contemplate pricing, marketing, promotion and placement strategies to grow market share
Develops and executes implementation plans to drive new product introductions. Works effectively across the organization to secure resources and support as necessary
Introduces forward-looking products and solutions that differentiate Medica from the marketplace and provides value to our employer groups and the brokers who serve them
Engages external business/vendor partners to evaluate and implement a best-in-class value added services offering
Establishes influential relationships with the external market via customers, industry experts, vendor partners, and consultants to help identify opportunities for innovation
Participates on the Commercial leadership team to develop and execute segment strategy
Our Director will lead the strategic planning and execution of self-insured employer group health plan products, aligning with company goals and market demands and oversee the entire product life cycle, including market research, product design, development, implementation, and ongoing performance analysis. In addition, this leader will manage daily fundamentals of self-insured product management and stop loss insurance to drive go-to-market strategies for existing and new products/services.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
8+ years of relevant health care industry experience
3+ years management/leadership experience
Experience in developing and introducing new health plan products, health plan product strategies, and customer value propositions in a highly competitive and complex environment
Excellent knowledge of the marketing, sales, and distribution processes used in group health insurance and related services
Commercial/employer group purchasing insight, knowledge and understanding of industry trends, contract negotiation experience, strategic thinking and planning, project leadership and execution, and knowledge of vendor and general third-party capabilities
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to demonstrate knowledge and performance in the following areas: health plan product development, health care funding arrangements, group health products and features, health care operations, market research, financial analysis, strategic planning, contract negotiation, product development process frameworks, and sales and marketing concepts and processes
Understanding of current and evolving needs of existing and potential small, medium and large customers
Excellent creative instincts and a deep understanding of the health plan industry
Ability to lead, build and manage a motivated team
Strong communication skills
Ability to build consensus across multiple constituencies, including senior leadership
The full salary range for this position is $124,600 - $213,600. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
